Could someone please trace the grip end of the club at the start of the swing? I am trying to figure out if the grip end travels horizontal at the start of the swing.
There are two planes to consider here.
The first is what I call the target line plane which is used for the initial force at the start of the backstroke.
The second is the actual plane the entire club (grip, shaft and clubhead) travels on after this force. The more the club leans forwards at address, the more this plane will be left of target.
During the period of initial acceleration, the left wrist should remain in its initial configuration. After this acceleration subsides the wrist conditions are dynamic to the movement of the club, not the other way around.
