Grip

Brian, it seems like Homer advocated a stronger grip than you teach, the left thumb and right trigger finger on the right side of the grip. Homer advocated taking the grip at impact fix which makes a lot of sense. At impact Homer's grip allows the left thumb and right trigger to force maximun downward outward pressure on the shaft. Your thoughts?

mb6606 is talking about a hitting procedure, if he is applying pressure to the shaft with the trigger finger(#3pp), rather than just sensing pressure with it. This is usually a no-roll procedure with angled hinging, and the strong single grip works well with it. However, for a left arm, full roll(horizontal hinging), swinging procedure, Brian's weaker grip is better.

I am still learning on TGM and currently process to trying to feel the #3pp from top to impact and also working on the pitching position.

I used a single strong grip, such that when moving up (imaging a plane and move along with it) and try to get an open palm (facing upward of the plane) at the top. Coming down trying to sense the #3 and direct it to the ball along the plane, therefore getting the elbow in first for the pitching position. I hope this is correct, at least it works for the woods on the tee. For the iron, I found that if my wrist is tight, unable to uncock it quickly, will hit a fat shot.

Before that, I was using a weaker grip where the #3 just slightly on the right of centre, isn't it true if using this grip and getting into a open palm at the top you need to have more rolling on the right arm, otherwise your right forearm more facing down and coming down it will get into a punching elbow position naturally?

Thanks.

There is no doubt that a stronger grip will make it easier to achive pitch position elbow.

But the rest of your question didn't register with me very well.

Can you rephrase, please?

I don't know if Homer had a Turned Left Hand/"strong" grip at Impact Fix, but he did have a gap between his left thumb and the rest of his hand. So it's conceivable that he had Vertical/"neutral" grip AND his left thumb on the Sweetspot side of the Clubshaft.
