Had a lot of fun @ Marbella, CA with Brian yesterday

I too enjoyed working with Brian at Maribella. Trackman is a great tool, especially in the hands of a guy like Brian. I was able to hit balls for a couple hours and wanted to stay and hit balls til dark, but had to get back to the wife and kids at the beach. You missed the guy with 120 club head speed on Friday nearly carrying the driver 340--that was tough to follow. Thanks go to Billy Mckinney too for hosting the Bman and for the use of the range.

JenH I had a feeling you'd say "too upright" based on what I remember about your swing. I was there Friday and had the opposite thing - too laid off (among other problems) and he got me upright. Actually, he blew up my whole backswing and swing in general, and I think the resulting pattern is very doable...much improved.

hi 5. I think i can be ready for the Senior PGA tour

I also had a great lesson with Brian on Friday @ Marbella. My first swing was 14 degrees out to in - Brian told me "you have no idea how much your swinging to the left" - then worked with me to come more from the inside. It was like a 20 degree difference in one hour with Brian and Track Man. He also told me my hips where getting in the way and we also worked on that. Thanks Brian, hope to work with you again. Come back to So Cal soon. -- Jay

Saw Brian on Sunday afternoon and over the course of the hour I received some great feedback and direction on where to focus. Started with a swing ranging from about zero to 4 degrees out to in with a weak grip, open hips and shoulders at set-up (yes the ball went straight, but lets just say distance hasn't been a strong point for me...lol). So, worked on strengthening my grip back to "manzella neutral" (on just about every swing). Just amazing how uncomfortable a new grip feels. Couldn't believe how weak it had become. Also, was not consistently getting to the left side enough and we worked on that while using the ground and clearing the hips...all that turned into a better pivot with swings in the 4-5+ degree in to out range. Once the changes become "natural" then we can move that swing path back towards zero. Overall, had a great time and received some fantastic instruction. Thanks Brian!

No, I was there on Friday. I think before dbl, but stayed hitting balls during his lesson--big changes in his swing were made for the better.

What did Brian help you with?

We worked on matching up my sweetspot plane to my shoulder plane. Basically I need more carry and flatter shoulders through the downswing into the finish. I was to tilty and a bit under plane with the low right shoulder at the transition. I also had too steep of an AofA, like 9* at its worst with my concentrating on the "ball bouncing" drill and not worrying about AofA. I'm pretty sure I fixed that now using Brian's suggestion of back extension finish--can pick it pretty consistently now, just would like a trained eye for the sweetspot/shoulder planes matching. It was also a little different hitting off the lie board for TM, but I was still taking monster deep divots after the lesson. I was pretty straight before, but had some compensations to make it so. This new swing refinement should make me more consistent as it really is an easier move and easier on the back too. A short series of lessons would be ideal for me too, but as most of you know tough to do.

A couple of us witnessed Jay's progress from the bleachers, so to speak, and it was amazing to watch him go from "outside-to-in" steady pulls to baby draws. Brian and Trackman were amazing. And Jay was a very good student...

@spktho, your swing looks really good, nice work.

Nicely done.

Thank you. Starting to really like the feel of throwing the club like the ball bouncing drill. I can still see some of the set up issues Brian also had me working on still there--I had open hips and closed shoulders. The shoulders look pretty good here, but the hips are open --, but I think I'll get it pretty quickly.
