Hand and Wrist Action

I have read several times that the left hand is only supposed to cock and uncock, and that the right hand is only supposed to bend back and forward. However, I cannot bend my right hand back and forth without making the left hand bend back and forth. It was my understanding that the left hand was not supposed to do this.

When I try to do the twist away I seem to cock my left hand up, which also cocks my right hand up so that it is not level with the right forearm; again, something I thought that wasn't supposed to happen. When I perform the twist away should I be looking for any of this? Does any of this even matter or is this just Golf Machine stuff that doesn't matter as much in Brian's patterns?

The right wrist should be frozen in its level and bent condition, while the left wrist can cock and uncock.

How can the right wrist stay level when the left wrist is cocking and uncocking. This is what I can't figure out. I am using the grip as prescribed by Brian in NSA.

Thanks.

so,
i think this somewhat depends on when/where you are doing this in the swing...if from address you just bend your trail wrist back as far as possible, your lead wrist will bow...if you then try to "cock" your lead wrist, something must give on the trail side...you could call it cocking or maybe even pronation, but it moves as your lead wrist cocks and flattens...if however from address, you bend your trail wrist back as far as possible, then lift your arms you will notice your lead wrist flattens and cocks naturally with the lifting and your trails wrist cocks/pronates naturally as well...of course, to complicate things, the "twist-away" will change this relationship somewhat:)...anyhoo, my $0.02 is that a lot of this is TGM semantics and that indeed both wrists cock at least a little in a natural swing motion...hope this helps, if not, ignore....

For me it feels like rotation/twisting of the right forearm. Also when you bend and straighten the right arm, the left wrist cocks and uncocks; there is a connection between the right forearm and left wrist degree of cocking.

this is a tgm can of worms, but it needs to be opened. i have spoken to brian about this . can not wait to hear his response.

its almost impossible to totally avoid cocking the right wrist. it will always cock some-what. the idea of the 'twistaway' is designed to minimise it.

so when you do cock the left wrist, it will inevitably cock your right wrist as well. to get your left wrist flat, then your right wrist must not cock your right wrist too much.

3-D machines show it deviates slightly, almost impossible not to, but the feeling should remain to keep in bent, do not try to cock it or this will ruin the flying wedge alignments
