Help...Right leg Straightens/slight over the top?

So,
Seeing myself on slo-mo camera I notice that I straighten my right leg (lose Rt knee bend) at the top of my BS...Then there is a very slight over the top move as I first start down-My swing steepens and the hands come over the original BS line/plane. I am then bunched up at impact and chicken wingin' it a bit... (My take away and position at top is good-used to swing hands/club too inside but fixed that) So I am nicely on plane at top but can't seem to get the hands and club to drop on, or inside the BS line on the way down(always over). On trackman my club path for the driver is somewhere around -0.5 to -1.5...it is really hard for me to get consistent 2.0-3.0deg #'s without looking like I reverse pivot w/ a big reverse C look
So MY Question really is...

How can I stop straightening the right leg on the BS (I have really tried) AND could this be a major factor in the Down Swing being steeper than the Back Swing plane and then Over the Top?

Thanks!

I wish I knew the answer. I have the same problem. I feel really contorted when I keep my right knee bent - I've given up trying to do it. I've never felt it has been a major problem in my swing and it doesn't cause me to be OTT.

If you watch Golf Show No 6 B'Man says it is acceptable to straighten the right leg on the backswing as for some people this helps them make a full turn.

Perhaps you staightening the leg is an issue for you, but it might be helpful for all of us if the more informed on the forum could provide a list of the possible causes of an OTT move.

You may be swaying to the right on the backswing, more likely the cause of the inconsistancy rather than the strait leg.

OTT is caused by too early shoulder movement from the top....

Give this exercise a go...

If you do it correctly, your shoulders cannot lead the downswing...:)

Without a club, get your top of backswing position and then on the "downswing" make an effort to push your right hip bone around using the inside of your right elbow...keep doing it until you get the feeling of your hips leading....

Fix the clubface (too open) and you will teach yourself not to be OTT pretty quickly! Find me one shut face OTT swinger that didn't take up the game last week. Right leg straightening "a bit" who cares?

Thanks everyone for the help...
cmartin-Are you saying that It is hard to find a shut face player that comes OTT? and that most OTT swingers are caused by an open clubface?

What if you do NOT have an open face at the top? I have seen lots of video of my swing and it appears right on plane. In line with my left wrist and clubface pointing slightly to the sky...But my right shoulder always wants to come over (very slightly) before I drop the hands-

P.s. I have the Tour Striker and hit it great, sometimes better than my real 5iron!

If you've ingrained a shut face and you're over the top, you're going to pull or or pull hook the ball, and you'll figure out stop coming OTT soon enough. Of course, as a struggling golfer who hits plenty of those OTT shut face shots, I think you have to be committed to having that closed a face, because I know when it happens to me, I start to try to leave the clubface open and still swing OTT, which of course starts to give you the rights...I've had days where I start the day right of right, go to left of left, and come back right to right or end up wondering why I torture myself :)

You may have it square at the top, but if you open the club on the downswing, you're just as likely to come OTT. Have you seen Never Slice Again 2.0?
