hips square at impact

i find that i do not pivot through the forward swing enough and do not rotate my hips enough. sometimes as though my hips look pretty much square to just slightly open. would it hurt to somewhat pre-set my hip just slightly open to get a head start and hopefully get a better pivot? what would be the downside to doing it?

pieman,
A suggestion:
Keep your right upper arm behind your right hip as long as you can on the downswing...that should get the hips moving around enough..

Make sure your right knee bends in order to shorten your right side or you have no choice but to come over the top...
And keep your head back....:)

puttnmad:
i have a slightly straight right leg as it is. are you saying to keep some bend in it, or which way would you have it bend?
