Hitter. What do I do with my "left"?

Since I'm a "hitter", I want to make sure what (if anything) I am supposed to do with my left (left hand/left arm/left shoulder/left side, etc.)? I understand I'm not supposed to "pull", so that means I don't use any "left" at all?

Thanks,
p

Hitting is pushing and swinging is pulling - that is all there is to it.

What is pushing?

One can be said to push when the force is behind the object and its destination

One can be said to pull if the force is between the object and its destination.

With that in mind, the right hand can push and pull while the left can only pull.

Therefore, as a hitter, you do not use the left hand at all. Instead you use the muscular power of your right triceps.

Please read 1-F of The Golfing Machine if you have the book.

Actually, all swings consist of both pushing and pulling, unless you only have one hand attached to the club. In pushing, the left hand and arm will always automatically contribute a certain amount of pull, that's just the natural way the body functions. It works the same in pulling with the left, the right will always contribute it's natural amount. This applies to both the backswing and forward swing motions.

The fulcrum of the lever (the secondary lever assembly, 6-A-3) form III.

To experience it, bend the shaft by pushing the clubhead against something stationary with the hands.

In a "hitting" procedure, intend to keep bending the shaft by pushing the clubhead against the club(head) "LAG" with the hands.

Hi Pm,
I assume you are speaking from a 'physics' perspective. And I can only say, if the left wrist is not being utilized as a pressure point (pp#2), then its job may only be to 'hold on'.

However, the left hand has another function: to align the clubface. See 3-F-7 and 7-2/10-2 as well as 2-G. And this function in and of itself, is a great responsibility for the left hand....

Just my take.

Hi Paul...

Confused yet?

Let me put it in ole english just like you like it!

Your left? What does it do? It just RESPONDS to the "pushing" of the right :)

See ya when i get back, we'll do lunch again.

Went to the range tonight, did okay for the most part. I was all over the place with the driver though. Still can't get the club to rightfield. If you remember, pick Brian's brain about cures for a bad pivot.
Lunch sounds great! Enjoy your trip!
