Hitting the ball fat...why?

C21,
I went thro this a while back....

In my case, what Brian said is spot on....

I tried keeping the right elbow bent longer.....result was inconsistent at best...

Eventually I realised I was overdoing the "right shoulder under and up" that you tend to develop for and in-to-out swing, i.e. getting under plane......you can usually tell you are overdoing it when the club ends up pointing downwards, down your back at the finish, rather than parallel to your eyeline.....

My own cure was simple, siimply make sure I swing my right shoulder around more (diagonally) on the downswing, rather than under....plus making sure I finish with my right shoulder pointing as far left of target as possible...
By doing it this way I eliminated the need to hold the right elbow bend and all that stuff...

I agree. Or if your left shoulder..is higher than the right at finish...too much inside out i believe.

I think the easiest way to trace a straight line is..

1. Have the towel plane board or imagaine there is something there.
2. use your pivot to lead your hand.
3. Hands has to be infront the club at impact.

practice little shot first, chipping..then gradually to a full swing.
I used to fade the ball when i was doing a full swing while the towel plane board was there, because i'm so used to swinging inside out and it's hard to not flip your hand. Also..your shoulder has to be in an open position at impact. just need to practice...there are really no short cuts guys. This is..just from my personal experience, i'm sure everybody has a different story.
