Laser revealed a downswing that flips or swings the clubhead way out to right field. I traced the plane line and could not believe how far left I had to swing to stay on plane. I am an on plane hitter of the ball until halway down, then I blank out and get off plane, or rather above plane. I have noticed a very high finish lately. How do i slay this monster?

my non expertise opinion would be keep doing what you did to find this problem. Work with the laser on plane until you incorporate it into your swing and watch the "never hook again vid". It rectifies your problem to a tee.

I believe you found the solution in your post: swing more left. Oddly, that seems to straighten the plane line if your clubhead goes too far to the right. Not sure how a hitter who uses right arm thrust and no CF would do that, but it works great for a swinger like me.

Now we now why diggerdog's attempt to the twistaway went to "Alambama" ;) He swings way out to right field.

You need to learn, "up the wall, down the wall, left of the wall." Do you have Brian's Never Hook Again video? You need to watch it and copy that pattern

Brian gave me this drill recently and it really helped from coming down too far inside and out too far right.

Learn to hit left to right cuts with a driver off the deck.

Worked absolute wonders for me. I too could not believe how far left I needed to swing to even get the ball to start on the target line much less left. You feel like you are doing the stereotypical slicer swing but you are really coming into the ball from the inside then back to the inside. Dare yourself to start the ball 45 degrees left from a square stance and you will probably still not come close. My two bits.

Brian,
Please promote galanga beyond rookie status. He has proven worthy of higher status. Great response, galanga.

There is a "theory" in Homer's Golfing Machine that need some clarifying.

The Theory is that a hitter can swing WAY out to right field and hit a nearly DEAD STRAIGHT shot.

Nonions chanceola.

The ball will hook......

eh....unless the clubface at separation is 'pointed' half as far to right field as the plane line is....

eh....then it will draw back to the target...

eh....but IT WON'T GO STRAIGHT.

Now, in Digger's case, what he needs is to do a HITTERS VERSION of "Never Hook Again".....

Swing left with the face slightly open (to the target) UNTIL THE BALL SLICES....

THEN! swing a little LESS left.

galanga....that advice brian gave you, "hit drivers off the deck with a small cut" is one of the drills of the "never hook again" video. Awesome video and i reccomend anyone watch even if you're not a hooker like me. Because its still very valuable.
