I broke 80

for the first time in about 2 years. My iron play was probably the best in 10 yrs. I should have shot 67, not kidding. I had 7 birdie putts inside 15 feet and made only 2. The greens were just re-done, so I can't get too upset. I hit 12 greens with 8 for 9 on the front 9.

I ended up with a 78 with a double and a bogie on the last two holes. I stuck two 3 irons within 5 feet and missed both putts. YIKES.

All in all I was happy with my score because the greens were plain aweful. I feel the swing coming around. I am not getting up and down hardly at all, but it's coming closer. No more skulls, so I am gaining confidence.

I just want to say thanks to Brian and all who have helped in my pursuit to better golf.

Congrats!! I've come damn close a few times but have never actually done it. Check out the 81s:

Great job wanole! It sure feels good when you break 80 don't it? I managed 3 rounds below 80 last year which was like throwing gas on a fire. It made my want to go lower more often.

Once you do it, it's much easier to do it again. Good play builds on itself. It's amazing how much golf is confidence and will than technique. Once you hold an image of yourself as a "70's shooter", you will do it often.

Thanks everyone. Yes, it does feel good especially since it's been a long struggle to get anywhere near to hitting the ball to where I use too.

As for my putting I am sure it's ok. The greens were really bad and I was hitting the putts on the line I selected, so I am happy about that.

wanole....!!!!

You see folks....there are other Golfing Machine instructors who are very critical of what I teach someone like WANOLE...FULL ROLL with ZERO LEFT WRIST BEND.

BUT!!!!

I didn't teach anyone ANYthing like that years ago.

I just figured out a better way. That's what you do if you are trying to eat and pay a car note and become world-famous one golfer at a time.

Golfers who have learned to "cut off the flip" need to FIRST learn to be a SUPER-roller.

Then, standard-'dandard' TGM Horizontal Hinge Action, or even Angled hinging can be EASILY employed.

NO CHICKEN-WINGers in the MANZELLA CAMP!

It's getting there. I hit more shots dead at the pin than I ever have.
Even my misses are straight.

Question though is late in the round I hit some fat short irons that just destroyed my round. Is that just an improper shift that causes that? Mostly my misses are thin and assume it's the flip coming in there (which is a work in progress), but the fat short irons are frustrating.

Great (and correct) answer Jim.

Also....don't "go to the ball" with your body (the only thing that DOES is your right shoulder).

Try feeling the left shoulder getting as far from the abll at impact as possible.

Excellent! I have a question for you guys. I played weekend before Easter, played 27 holes, like this... Back nine, 50, back nine, 39, front nine, 39. How does this count, as an 89 or a 78 with a warmup nine? Been arguing with my brother over this, I say 78, he says 89. Trying to take the glory, I think...
