I like Tiger, but this is ridiculous!

Im a Tiger fan, no doubt. But, man was a pulling for Rocco.... I hope he can pull it out today.
As for the lies... some guys get them... my dad, can hit it into the woods, and no lie it will bounce out perfectly into the fairway more often than not. plus... Tiger knows Torrey Pines like the back of his left glove.

on a side note... I have never seen a man look like he was in more pain... by the time he reached the 18th tee box, his eyes were blood shot, and the constant whence on his face was rather telling of just how much pain he was in...

how come he stopped wincing when he started hitting the fairway and the winces were back when he started to get erratic?

The driver is clearly the toughest club in the bag for him to swing. He really goes after it with the driver. Also, I saw a few long irons from the fairway he hit, that were clearly giving him some trouble.

btw, johnny Miller at one point said "he should be wearing tennis shoes so he can slip that foot and not put so much pressure on the knee like he does with the spikes."

To me, that was a dumb comment, when tiger hit that eight iron while standing on the cart path, he sliped and it clearly was painful to him.
and Johnny said then "he needs to be careful not to slip on the cart path, it could really hurt his knee."

I like Johnny Miller and all, but sometimes he contradicts himself, saying whatever would sound most intelligent in the moment.

Miller was talking about letting the left foot slip. When he hit off the cart path it was the right foot that slipped alot. The left foot didn't slip much at all. Tiger was jumping off the left foot on the harder swings more than usual, probably to protect the knee.

Ok, that makes more sense, although, I wouldnt think it would be a good idea to alow either foot to slip too dramaticly... plus im sure Tiger knows what to do to protect that knee, and is taking those precautions. He wouldnt screw himself over worse just to have a chance to win ONE more major.

Who do I cheer for? I like both guys. I want to see Tiger get closer to Jack's record, but I love Rocco's attitude and roundish draw swing.

Look at his limp. Is Tiger the new Hogan?

I haven't wished for anyone other than Tiger before, but today I feel sad for Rocco :( really nice man with a chance missed by a hair to make history.

Tiger is so by far the greatest it isn't even funny. Coming from Western Pa and having played a number of times with Rocco i was very disappointing to see it unfold like that today. If only he could have somehow made it on 18.... what a run on 13-15!

That's it I'm taking all of you on right now.

AW... Jealousy is painful!

Nonono.

He's building mystique!

A sneaky showman this Eldrick is.

Tiger is the luckiest putter in the history of golf ;)

Not sure if this is to me at all iseek.....

But just in case (or if anyone else pipes up)- I have never said anything of the sort.

I will fight this until the day I die!

This will be judged by how many times he plays between now and the Open Championship. 5 events, 2 of which he usually plays. Buick open(his sponsor) and the his own tournament. I bet he doesn't play either.

We shall see, I guess.

Building mystique!

I have seen plenty of people look like they were in more pain!

I saw no bloodshot eyes.........

And his walk looked fine except for when he tried to play it up at key strategical moments.

Granted- I wasn't watching it on HD.......so......

Ya!

Mystique...!

It would have been a better story if Rocco would have won. Rocco made him earn it.

I've never been a big Rocco guy........but it was hard not to like him today and I have never pulled so hard for someone all day long.

I was shooting so much magic dust out of my fingers at Rocco for every big putt I will be cleaning it for weeks. Same deal with voodoo-hex dust @ Tiger.

Rocco did very well and ya.....he made Tiger work for it. This is great to see in itself and made today very exciting. Rocco put some heat on Tiger and made him hit some great shots. Tiger did come through on them but Rocco did HIS job and gave himself a great chance.

Unfortunately, (and despite my dusting) with Tiger making way too many putts the entire Tourney, Rocco didn't make enough himself. And despite his great consistency the past few days, he got himself into trouble at a very bad time- on the 1st sudden death playoff hole.

Rocco was so close!! :( Very close!

But it was a great match. It wasn't at all boring or one-sided.....with the other guy falling way off his normal pace.....much like how many I'm sure thought it would be.

In the end, I'm slightly tired from all that dusting. I worked hard today. I may have to look into a new dust supplier.

(granted, if I was dusting in person it would have had a greater effect)

I know the consequence of using magic, so I resisted using it to make Rocco win. I have such an affinity for players that draw the ball!

I was happy to see a major that wasn't boring. I was actually excited, and it kind of felt like watching LO-CHO, but not quite as satisfying.

Women's US Open on the 28th!

Great match, Rocco can hold his head high, he gave it his best. The rough question is an interesting point as Tiger has done this his whole career. I watched him at Eastlake blow a drive 50 yds right over the trees and into the fairway of the adjacent hole and make birdie. If you want to make driving accuracy an important part of the open, just make any drive 20 yds off the fairway OB.

Otherwise you are better off missing big if you're going to miss....

But man Tiger is amazing getting out of trouble, that 215 yd shot he hit out of the fairway bunker today was sick"which I believe that bunker was on an adjacent hole"

Lemme clear some things up... one I should have said "I haven't seen someone in more pain while playing golf." and even then... I'm being somewhat facetious.

and I was watching this on HD, and his eyes were bloodshot, I even said to my girlfriend... "man look how bloodshot his eyes are" and she said "wow yeah they are."

Anyone else think that Tiger has had some treatment for his receding hairline?

The knee is just a cover story for the trichologist that he is seeing...;)
