For the longest time I did not understand what is letting the gravity help your golf swing. I have been swinging with one hand, and I noticed that If the club is not dropping at the top of my swing and i start my down swing I would hit a bad shot. So now I just bring the club up and wait till I feel like the club is dropping on its own and then proceed to swing the club. I feel like I could hit the ball further with ease. I used to bring it up and swinging down right away, this is something new to me......

any comments? If this is a good thing or bad thing?

It sounds like a good thing. I think it's something I'd like to add to my swing, and it should be easier now with the changes Brian made.

The "drop" is actually something that I've started to do on my pitch shots. Brian pointed out that I was making a very short backswing and trying to power through the ball, making it a forced, unnatural motion for many of the shots I was trying to hit. I got longer on the backswing and now feel like the club just swoops down from the top.

There are some guys who let it drop on every shot and it looks amazing. Younger Ernie Els and Payne Stewart come to mind, although there are plenty of other guys who have that sweet rhythmic motion.

I strive to achieve this on every shot, long or short. Correct me if I'm wrong but I feel like when I bump my hip my arms automatically fall. I then try to focus on my hands to body distance to try and get the clubhead back to adress position. It does seem to make the shot feel effortless.

Whenever I try to use my arms early, the shots seem very inconsistant and lacking distance even tough I feel like I'm gonna murder the ball.

Any thoughts or responses welcome!

It feels nice but I need to learn when to slow the pivot on the down swing. Sometimes I may pivot a little to fast for my arms to catch up and I believe it is causing me to leave the club face open.....Not quite sure.

It's one way to do it, that's for sure and it looks the most pleasing.

My coach taught a "vertical drop" that I struggled with for years. I guess I didn't have the right alignments at the time to "let it happen" and had to adjust a little on the way to impact.

Be careful not to get too under plane, which was my issue.

A guy like Davis Love comes to mind...

Horizontal bump, vertical drop. Sounds like a Canadian I once heard of.

I SWING LEFT....KEEPS THE BALL IN PLAY. WHEN I DON'T PUSH FADE.

I just throw the club at my right foot (righty)... I have two shots --- tight draw and a pull. I play okay for a guy that takes months off from golf. I probably won't play again until Sept!!
