I thought if you did this you'd hook every shot...

No you won't.

Els doesn't.

Lee doesn't.

I don't.

Tom Bartlett don't.

Mike Finney don't.

and Ben Doyle FADED 27 consectutive different drivers DOING THIS on demo day at the show (until he hit a Ping G5 12° with a prolauch 65R, DEAD STRAIGHT).

Oh yeah, Bubba don't.;)

Very nice. Thanks for that picture.

I can do it in the living room (no golf courses open), but only if I use a really good pivot. Feels very "strong".

Can't wait till spring.

I did that TWICE on the range in Orlando for all to see. Once for brian and a few times right in front of Erik.

---

You don't hook it as long as you have enough axis tilt and an open clubface at impact while being ON PLANE. Swing "too far to the right" and it's hook city.

I'm a bit slow. Anyone care to explain what it is everyone is talking about here? Isn't that just the end result of a good horizontal hinge?

Nope...in some people's mind that is an over-rolled condition of the clubface. It is now "off plane" and currently looking "at the ground." To be on plane the left wrist should've "re bent" and allowed the clubface to lay against the face of the plane as it does in the backswing.

HOWEVER

There is some leakage to doing that. Doing it the doyle/manzella way (as bubba demonstrates) eliminates A LOT of the leakage. But again, a lot of people say it's impossible.

Well that would explain why I thought it was just the result of a good horizontal hinge action -- everything I learned about it came for here or the Mike Jacobs DVD -- both of whom are influenced by Doyle.

Doesn't Bubba draw/hook his irons and fade his driver - how about a similar photo in this position with a driver?

Hogan page 102

One of the single most important concepts to 'get'

What I have often refered to as the concept of ROTATION POINT

Purtzer's swing has the club face looking at the ground. View both the down line and face on view. It "appears" the roll, #3 accumulator is in action just after impact and prior to follow thru...

EDZ, mind if I ask for you to elaborate on "getting it" the pg.104, rotation point. Thanks in advance...

what a beautiful swing!

Take a look through the EdZ Drills posted on the drills section of Lynn's site. Page 102 is an 'example', as is this wonderful pic of Watson.

The hand roll of Accum #3 goes into action before impact, delivering the clubhead speed, generated by uncocking, into the ball. Accums #2 and #4 generate the head speed and #3 delivers it.

Brilliant picture Brian! I think this is what I need to work on now. I have been working hard with my instructor to have the right body motion into the ball and have just been hitting blocks, but not minding as my motion was good. what has been pointed out by others in a thread I started here

http://www.manzellagolfforum.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3028

was that through impact I did not have the proper release swivel but was a bit flippy. I attribute this tto my old motion that led to pull hooks and I learned to keep the ball in play by nort properly releasing the club.
Would love your feedback on my swing and feel free to point me to any of your video or articles for things to work on.
