I agree Burner and I work on that a lot. If I knew how to stop my swing at 0.02 every time believe me I'd do it. Believe it or not this video is one of my better swings. I actually struck it very good with a draw.

For what its worth, and I am not charging you, my thoughts (feelings I aim for) in these circumstances are to start the down swing before I finish the back swing. Surprising how easy it becomes after a few tries - but it is a constant discipline.

In my case, over swinging always comes from looking for that little extra oomph. It is feelable and it just 'aint worth it.

Wolfdog,

Has anyone made you do that drill where you take the back of your left hand, place it on the right side of your trail elbow, and keep pressure there throughout the backswing? Your leading arm will go underneath the trailing arm to place the hand there. There's a video for it somewhere on the PGA website. I'll check and see if I can get the link for you.

It should help with the across the line, because it will keep your trailing elbow more in front of you.

Good luck!

I really appreciate all the help but my head is swimming a bit. I've got a lot of helpful advice here plus 11 pages of previous lessons and things that have worked in the past (it's only 11 pages because I archived half of it a while back). I get all the golf magazines and think I find something every month. I've taken lessons from 5 different pros and a former PGA Tour winner over the last few years searching for the THING that will make me not have the "whirley bird" as my friends call it. I just want back that 100 yards I've lost in the last few years.

I've watched Never Hook Again as recommended by Brian once and am going to watch it a few more times until I feel like I know it - then I'm going to work on it.

Again - thanks for all the help - I'll report back...

You've lost 100 yards on your driver swing?

The swing you posted created a draw ball fight? It looks like the ball started dead left... it went farther left?

Have to agree with both Jim and Cloran. If you lost 100 yards, something is really wrong dude. Not only that, the swing is def. OTT. Maybe one of the big boys on here can help you. I'm still a complete virgin compared to these guys, lol.

S happens, but 100 yards lost is crazy.

Hoping for better golf!

I used to swing like you in the video until I worked very hard on keeping my upper right arm connected to my chest from set up to impact . I didn't say elbow, that can move away. I shortened my swing also_Once my shoulders stops turning in the backswing I try and stop my arms from going futher. Also I worked on a little more rotation of my left forearm in the back swing- about a 1/4 turn of the forearm.
Now remember I am not a pro and these are moves that worked for me so take that into consideration. I am sure someone will come on here and disagree with me but good luck.

I'm a 9 hc now - was a 0-5 for many years (the young limber years).
My friends say I'd be a 20 hc if I couldn't putt & chip.
I can't seem to stop over swinging and letting my right elbow fly.
My pro can't seem to get me there.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Wolfdog

Dear Wolfdog,

By dragging the dot in the time bar (after freezing the frame), I am able to 'stop action', some of the subsequent frames.

DO YOU OR ANYONE ELSE KNOW HOW TO ADVANCE A U TUBE VIDEO FRAME BY FRAME ?

From what I am able to see in 'stop action' is that you are athletic enough to strike the ball after having put yourself in impossible positions during your 'transition. I have a friend that has a similar swing, and his desire to KILL the ball awakens a whole lot of right side that is too early and too much for your swing.

So, can you do a 10 BASEBALL swing, continuous HORIZONTAL 'metronome-like' exercise ? Next, can you do it while keeping your hips/torso stable, and without losing your balance and moving your feet ?

Finally, can you do this 10 more times, lowering your back and forth swing from HORIZONTAL TO A GOLF SWING WITH THE SHAFT AT 45-60 DEGREES, to the vertical ?

If so, or if you can 'train' yourself to do this with multiple 10 swing repetitions without a ball, you will have started to more correctly move thru the 'transition phase', without your present DESTRUCTIVE, approximately 6 inch UPPER BODY "THRUST (in 3D AMM/TPI terms), towards the ball.

Now, rather than try to actively remember every new place your body parts are going, JUST TRUST YOUR NEWLY TRAINED BODY,AND REMEMBER AND BE AWARE OF ONLY YOUR NATURAL TEMPO.

NOW, FINALLY, tee up a ball, and JUST REPRODUCE AND BE AWARE OF THAT TEMPO.

Please video both an exercise both horizontal and on plane and a swing or two HITTING YOUR DRIVER, where you HONESTLY can say you were AWARE, and MATCHED the tempo of your 10 swing, golf plane exercises.

Looking forward to your response wolfdog, and then yes, it will be time for Part 2, and 'Bumpy Back, keep it back", for the lower body dynamic balance you will now need for your new swing..

Good luck and regards,
