Directional influence of lie angle!

Interesting tom

I have been told that lie angle has zero effect on face angle for a driver since it doesn't interact with the ground

The directional influence of lie angle increases as the loft increases. This is due to what is known as face plane angle. If you took the magnet pointer that can be put on the face of an iron, you would see that the directional influence of a lie angle change with a SW would be greater than the directional influence of a 3 iron with both changing the same lie angle degree.

I read somewhere that tension can cause toe shots. Because of tension, the arms retract on the downswing which causes contact towards the toe.

Makes sense....

That would be me then, i'm having all sorts of issues with toe shots (so much that I can get the same result as a shank), It starts, I get tense, it gets worse, I go home.

Need to get to the root cause to fix it totally before I hang them up for good.

I think I saw a video where Brian recommends that your arms feel like elephant trunks when swinging. Just let the arms hang loose and wallop the ball with your pivot. Others have recommended keeping your arms relaxed and passive.

I do know that when I get near the end of a large range bucket I have a tendency to tighten up which has led to shanks on occasion. I really have to focus on remaining relaxed.
