I always say learn to hit it straight then move more towards a fade or a draw whichever is easier for you to produce. When really trying to attack a course there are times where i understand hitting a straight shot is just harder to keep it in the fairway because you are cutting off the amount of landing area.
I think it's more difficult to play great with a dead straight stock shot bc you have to take lines that leave you room for pushes AND pulls which makes flag hunting more conservative (unless all your flags are in the middle of the green). I think it's better to have a straight shot that always tends to 'lean' the same way, then you can choose more aggressive lines and get better looks at birdie. JMO
