Depends his grip at address. With a strong enough grip it may be square. Otherwise, it looks pretty closed to me.

You all are missing the point - at address, the club face is 90* to the plane line. At the top, it is 45* to the plane line. Therefore it has opened 45*. It is only 'closed' using current common golf terminology (correct or not). One would only have to work 'half as hard' to square off at separation from the position in the picture as some one whose clubface lies parallel to the plane line (90* open).

Could be seen as a matter of semantics, but the club has opened 45* to the plane line.

I know for myself, I have always been concerned that I was a little 'closed' at the top and kept trying to get the clubface on the plane line. Hell with it - take it back to a position where you feel comfortable in bringing the club down plane and beat the s**t out or it.

I was not referring to the "plane line" on the ground, but the blue line in the photo (the plane).

This is probably just semantics . . . and your post rocked too by the way . . . but would it not be 45* to the plane ANGLE?

Don't let me down!!!! Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce!

Some do and some don't . . . Why?

Grip type? Release type?

Here's three dudes that in my mind are the best of all time and primarily played a cut. BM can you give us the analysis on the clubface position at the top and delivery?

Question:

Why does squaring the face at impact/seperation related to work? i.e. it takes less effort to square the face if only opened 45*? Not certain who we're looking at here but I think he might work hard to keep it from closing too much at seperation.

Is CF at work with respect to the clubhead and shaft? i.e. does it close up naturally?

Dosen't feel like work to me.
