.....
There may be more than just the learning process involved here David..
Most (not all) of the great ballstrikers you see, not only lerned certain swing knowledge at an early age, but that early age allowed the muscles of their body to grow into their swing, whereas the later starters probably never ever develop the correct muscular balance, which allows their body to swing correctly and consistently.
Perhaps when we try to make the correct moves and don't succeed it is not totally down to lack of knowledge or application, but simply a lack of the correct muscular development during our early years.
Perhaps that is why we need the correct teacher to show us the "move" which activates the right swing muscles, which in turn gives us the absolute correct feel, which then can be repeated, which then develops the right muscle, which can then reinforce the correct feel, etc etc....
This may also be the reason why amateur players can play well one day, or hit balls great during one range session, but next day couldn't hit a barn door, and can't rekindle the swing they had only hours earlier...
Still, at the summit, when all is revealed...you may be disgusted with how stupid you were. And you may be even more disgusted you didn't learn the essential things you really need to understand as a kid.
