It took me 48 years to figure this out.

My beloved LSU Tigers are off to a 3-0 start. You think all would be well in Tiger Stadium.

Ah, no.

You see, like lots of football teams, The Fighting Tigers have a QB controversy.

I like the starter Jordan Jefferson, a less then Brees-like talented athlete, and lots of folks like Jarrett Lee, a more prototypical drop back passer, that two years ago, pressed into service as a true freshman, he led the world in throwing pick 6's.

I even suggested that Lee get to start the last game against Mississippi State after JJ stunk it up vs. Vandy. Coach Les Miles, started Jefferson anyway, he played pretty well, and the Tiger's rolled.

So what?

So a guy that was sitting next to us, was riding Jefferson all night long. At some point in the game, Slot Receiver Russell Shepard was standing open on the sideline about 20+ yards from Jefferson. Jordan threw a strike that would have hit Shepard in the face mask, but it bounced off of his hands over his head incomplete.

The Lee fan/Jefferson hater was convinced that Jefferson threw the ball over Shepard's head. I told him "It hit him dead in the hands, throat high." He totally disagreed. His friend agreed with me and then the HD screen in the stadium showed the replay.

The guy was so surprised that I was right that he couldn't speak. He KNEW, just KNEW that the ball SAILED WAY OVER Shepard's head. When seeing the truth he just froze for a second, and undaunted said:

"He should have throw it to his numbers."

And here we sit.

I am never going to get the book literalists to admit the book is very flawed. Never going to get the Stack and Tilters to admit they were incorrect on some of their "science." Never going to get any of that from a Morad guy either.

I am here today to admit I was wrong for even trying.

They, and others like the 1 planners, the Natural Golfers, etc, are just going to believe they are 1000% right.

It is simply human nature to want to belong to a group and have a dogma that says something is so.

I am very sorry for upsetting their apple carts.

They will continue to hound me, and mock me, thinking I am their only critic. Not realizing that everywhere I go, there are countless more who think that some or all of these methods aren't all they are cracked up to be.

I will continue to seek the truth, and speak the truth on this website.

I will continue to correct myself when I am wrong and defend those who can''t defend themselves.

But, I am not wasting one more thread on arguing with blind believers.

Funny thing is, they think all of the folks who come to this site to learn about golf are little clones who believe everything I say.

You and I know better.

Sorry for wasting everyone's time with un-win-able, silly, circular, non-debates.

I wish all the true believers of these "science-based" methodologies well. And hope they stripe it every time.

Whew.

Awesome!

Finally, please tell me we can argue about something I know a little bit about!:D

I don't have a problem with Jefferson; really he had a good game against MSU. He protected the football and two different QB’s for MSU couldn’t do the same. I'm not sure J. Lee would have performed any better but I do think he deserves a shot. Honestly, the biggest disappointment for me was losing Zack Lee to the Majors. I was really excited to see him in action but that's just me being selfish and I wish him the best at whatever path he chooses.

I'm more disappointed that the play book needs to be simplified for Jordan as a junior and a starter, really? How is the coaching staff handling player development? I'm disappointed that the D played lights out and offered up opportunities for the offense and we kick four field goals instead of scoring touchdowns. I don’t care for the play calling by Crowten and the road is not gonna get any easier. We have some tough games coming up and I’m really nervous. Pure athletic ability has us gotten through for the most part but what happens when the ability is matched? Then it comes down to coaching and game management. This concerns me. I really hope Jefferson has a breakout season. He’s a good kid and a tremendous talent and I pray that’s enough.

As for the all that other stuff (golf wise), keep doing your thing Brian. There’s a lot more folks who appreciate what you do for golf and hackers like me than there are those that wish to destroy you for whatever reason.
Go Lions!
Go Tigers!
Go Saints!

The trouble with college football qb's is that there are no real good passers. Offensive play books have moved away from the drop back passers in favor of the run and gun, option, or wildcat. Where the nfl is looking for the drop back passer that they can teach to move in the pocket.

Those who are open to learning, will. Those who only want to push their own agenda, will; and will not learn, until forced to by whatever motivation.

Well put Brian.
That's the main problem with all of us stubborn adults including myself.
WE ALL WANT TO BE RIGHT!

It robs us of our childhood wonder and turns our open minds into closed minds.

Brian - what does this actually mean?

No more SnT, TGM or MORAD threads on this board, or just no more input from you on threads that are rehashing the same old arguments?

I for one am glad!
that thread was poison, just people digging in their feet and taking haymakers at the other sides.
bottom line "you can take horse to water, but you can't make him drink" and that is also "why ice cream comes in so many flavors" :}

I hope that's the end of the arguments now, becuase like you said, you can't win. It's like trying to convince someone their religion is wrong.

This forum is quality because of the information put out that's not on any other site. It must be frustrating for someone like Brian who knows the game and the book but you can't MAKE someone understand, they just have to come around slowly I guess.

i think

he meant...he is not going to try to convince those who are TOTALLY set in their thinking

he would never shut anyones post down... because it was something he might not agree with

the analogy about the qb.....was just to show....a closed "mind-set" is exactly what it means CLOSED

I will do an "official statement" regarding all the major methodologies in the next few days.

You can discuss them on this site all you want.

I'm glad u came to this conclusion. I've learned recently, personally and painfully, that people will believe what they believe. And trying to change those beliefs, even if you're convinced that you're 100% right and they're 100% wrong, is futile. In the end, the only thing that changes is an increase in bad blood; no one ends up being successful in advancing their side of the argument in the eyes of the other side.

Brian - Your teaching is invaluable and I love the fact you aren't afraid to challenge yourself and others with logic, reason and real world application of your ideas. Great post!

Brian, I applaud your effort. Thanks to you and this website I have learned more about the golf swing in the short time I have been here then all my previous years combined. Keep up the great work.

I hope your QB struggles Saturday night! I was hoping to attend the game but it just didn't work out, I wanted to experience Death Valley first hand. I can't wait to watch the game! If our O line plays well we will have a shot, if not it could be a long night. We haven't played well all season but things are started to click, it will be exciting. I'd also like to invite you to Morgantown next year for the game, I think you would enjoy it. Let's Goooooo Mountaineers!
