I was at the range lastnight and was hitting nothing but hooks and pull hooks with my driver. I think my problem is leakage because my pivot stops and the club comes whipping closing the club face and there it goes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay right.(i am a lefty). Then I had a flash back of somehthing that Brian told someone to try. I aimed right of the target and then just tried to hit it at the target. I think it is this first time I really felt no leakage because if I did then It was even further right than before. I hit some of the most solid drives long and straight at the target. So I started thinking if it works this good with driver let me try the irons. It was great I hit some of the longest 5irons I ever hit. It felt like to me I could finally finish my swing and I really felt like I was getting maximum compression. So after all this my question is if I wanted to start playing from a open stance should my shoulders and club be square to the target line. Any advice like ball position and alignments would be appreciated. I am a hitter if it helps.

curtisj76, thanks for the reply. My ball flight after the change was a little fade that started right of the target and faded back on target or just straight at the target. My bad hits were really big slices and of course when I did have leakage I would still get the low hook. But I had alot more good shots than I usually do with a square stance. I really feel like I had major compression the ball was jumping off my irons. My only swing thought was keeping my glove logo on my front hand looking at the target and pushing with my palm of my trail hand for as long as possible. That is why I posted to see if with a open stance should I be still hitting the inside back of the ball, ball placement, shoulder alignment versus feet alignment because I didn't think of any thing but setting up with a open stance square hips & club face, and my left forearm on plane and just keeping my logo of my glove going at the target. Hope I didn't run on to much I just think I might have found something that works for me. So any questions or comments good or bad that you might have just fire away. Again thanks for the reply.

Open stances.

I played my best with a closed stance that was aiming way open.

The ball has NO IDEA where your feet are.

Just remember to hit some darws when you are practicing to "balance things out" a bit.

Thanks Brian will do. Should I be doing everything the same with an open stance that I did or tried to do with a square stance? Is thier anything you might suggest I change because of an open stance(i.e. ball position, swinging to left field) or do I just have to feel it out and do what works best.
Thanks for the reply.
