I Understand that this a Work in Progress.... Assuming you are using the Term Matrix to be a table of Rows and Columns that You will use to Represent a Tree Structure..... Do You Have any Idea of how many Rows and Columns this Matrix will Contain..... This is a very Powerful Way of Ordering Your Information and this Matrix Structure lends itself to many Mathematical manipulations, Algorithms, and Computerization.....

That's why we are going on a "science tour" this winter.

But the "Basic MANZELLA MATRIX" will be as easy as pie.

A golfer would have a leftwards-centered backswing if he perfectly mimiced the end-backswing position of the golfer in this photo.

If a golfer leans over the left leg at the end-backswing position, so that the torso has a distinct leftwards tilt and the left side of the head is in FRONT of the center of the stance - then that represents a leftwards-centered backswing.

Here is an example of a leftwards-centered backswing.

Image 3 shows the golfer at the end-backswing position - note that he leans on the left leg, and that the left side of his head is in FRONT of the center of the stance.

Interestingly, I have never seen a swing video of Mike Bennett (originator of the S&T swing) hitting a driver to know whether he uses a leftwards-centered backswing for driver shots.

Jeff.

Hey Brian long time,
It may look good the photo of Mike above, but as you know, and we talked about a while back. The spine can move to change the patterns of ball flight. Mike in this video did two swings, fully hit on seperate lines and alignments. Thats the point. '
Brian knows this. He likes in his own swing a pattern(s) as do I. As fo rhis teaching he knows the causes and effects of patterns. When looking at S&T it is looked at from a one way about it swing. Mabey so... Morad never did, Mike and Andy I know for a fact don't teach so black and white.
In the future of this I am sure that thse topics wil come out
(yellow book ref)
1. program the computer for the type of shot
2. spine effects
3. shoulders tilts and arm linkages
4. impact relationships
Keep up the great work Brian,
Dana

Nice post Dana I was about to comment on the same issue taking one clip of one swing of any player doesn't tell half the story, you have to now what kind of shot was hit low cut high draw etc.. The axis tilt will look different for different shots. I know Mike mcnarry and Mac O'grady have a very centered backswing but if they hit a higher shot like a driver or long iron they keep there head back and only shift there lower body left wich increases there axis tilt in order to get the desired ball flight. And If they are trying to keep a short iron on a lower medium ball flight they swing centered throughout with very little if any increase of axis tilt on the downswing. The swing they teach is extremely adaptable to different shots which is exactly why it was developed by Mac O'grady to be able to make minimum adjustment to the swing and get a wice variety of ball flights and trajectories. But thats my opinion and this is brians site and we should be talking more about the manzella matrix instead of the stac and tilt guys wich to me are just an offshoot of the purer morad mechanics. thanks for the site brian ITs a great place to talk about the swing.

what is interesting is that mike wier has been changing his swing all year and its finally starting to come around so his stats arn't that great but he has already moved up 50 spots on the driving distance list since last year.

Nice win by Mike yesterday. Good thing Miller straightened him out.

Also, one of his fellow classmates, John Cook, took home the trophy at his second Champions outing. Sometimes nice guys finish first.

Did Mike Weirs swing actually look any different than it always did? I think the changes he has incorporated are subtle at best. But more importantly the methodology he has suscribed to have given him different things to feel. I don't see that he is actually doing anything that resembles S&T.

Isn't that precious: when he isn't winning, Weir is criticized for being too much toward the target, as B&P recommend, but, after he's won, "he isn't doing anything different...". Too much...

First of all Jeffy, I never made any of the other comments you elude to, I made a simple observation that the swing looks the same to me, has nothing to do with winning or losing. I have no issues latent or otherwise with S & T. You jump too conclusions as you always do.

what's interesting is that all 3 winners these past 2 weeks (weir, langer, cook) all claim to be using the s & t pattern....

Who made the claims and where?...

Cook and Weir have been in the program for some time: Mike put out a press release about a year ago that he was working with Andy and Mike, and Cook was mentioned in the first GD article. Langer is a new one to me.

OPS theory is still living and doing well, if you wanna know. But on THIS FORUM, let's talk rather about the Manzella Matrix instead writing provocative posts.

Cheers
