Kostis on VJ's swing

VJ uses a full swivel and Peter Kostis said that is the reason he has to hit so many balls. Has to to keep his timing.

VJ is almost at wedding ring up on the slow mo they did today on the telecast and Kostis noted it and made the comment on how much face rotation he has through the ball. Made it almost sound like it was a bad thing.

I thought the same thing about Kostis when I heard that also. That guy makes absolute zero sense to me. On another note, what an awesome golf swing VJ has. :D

Kostis is kind of right imo, the main reason VJ hits so many balls is because he swings way too far to the right so he has to also be hitting balls to keep it in check. That move combined with a very full roll produces hooks.

That's why his lie angles are so flat and his woods so open-faced.

Kind of what I was thinking. Full roll is nice and all, but when you fight a hook, not so much.

Is my thinking right here, or no?

It's more about plane and clubface control, if you can't figure out how to get the clubface open or swing more left you'll hit a hook all day long.

I mean i can hit a full roll fade if i want to, it's just an adjustment of clubface and a slight plane line move. But VJ has his swinged grooved and he's done it for so long i don't think he'd want to change it.

Jim,

Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation.

So this is the reason for his water bottle drill then?

Full Roll and hitting it straight.

The thing to remember—and this is outlined in great detail in "Never Slice Again 2.0," is that the clubface is NOT ROLLING, per se, through impact.

THE CLUBHFACE SHOULD BE VERTICAL TO THE GROUND!!!

What the club does AFTER the follow-through (when both arms are straight past impact) is PURELY show-biz.

Good players can fake this move any number of ways.

Pure angled hingers like Jim Furyk are in the Hall-of-Fame but are not in the majority in that building!

I mean—really...

If you have no clue, keep your pie hole shut.

Yes, if I'm not mistaken his driver is somewhere around 5 degrees open...I'm sure many here have seen the photos on another site...it's really something!!

"experts"

Peter Kostis used to come to Valhalla every year to teach some members.

I just wish you folks could see the lesson tapes I have seen.

Not all that, let me tell you.

But on another note, I could get him to hit it LOTS better than he does.;)
