Learned NSA - Now hitting Hooks

Hello Everyone,

I bought NSA earlier this summer to combat my slice. With a few lessons and the video I broke 100 a few times. Boy that video worked wonders! I was practicing real hard and went from slice to straight to straight/hook.

I took the past 2 months off as I totally burned myself out. I went to the range 2 days ago, and I hit mostly hooks but was making good contact. I decided to go play 9 holes with no expectation yesterday, and I shot a 45 playing my hook which is my best round ever! A few of my shots went straight but most went left. Kinda funny not practicing for 2 months and I shot my best round. This game is so mental!!!

Anyway I would like to work on getting rid of the hook. Occasionaly I can hit it straight or a nice draw, but I can't figure out what i'm doing when I do. When I take slow practice swings the clubface is closed coming through impact. It may be from getting rid of my nasty slice.

Any suggestions? I am trying different ball positions and swing paths with mixed success. Do you think NHA or Soft draw would help?

In psychology, a gain in performance without practice is called "reminiscence". Your mind absorbed the information without the filter of hitting a bucket of bad shots. Without actually seeing your swing, I would suggest examining your grip. Is it neutral? Is your left wrist even with the leading edge of the clubface. Also examine your takeaway. If it is too inside, it will promote a draw.

You've gotten rid of the slice because your clubface is no longer open. But now you're over-doing it to some degree and the clubface is now closed at impact.

My guess, get rid of the backswing twistaway, but keep the downswing twistaway.

NHA will be your next step. Dont worry this is normal you are just moving throughout different parts of the Matrix. You probably will need a more left plane line of force and gather up those marbles like Tiger. I dont think an arched left wrist is necessary to fix if you have it until later on. Good Luck!

Thanks all,

Looking at my grip it is a bit strong but not much. I am not thinking about the twistaway it's just happening pretty good after a 2 month layoff.

I will try swinging a bit more left, weaking my grip, and reducing the twistaway.

NSA only briefly touched on hooking so I am guessing that would be the proper items to try.

I will review the NHA thread. What's the difference between NHA and soft draw?
