Left hip repels right shoulder?

Would it be proper to conceptualize the right shoulder and left hip going in opposite directions on the downswing?

That was my swing thought de jure today and I liked it.

Yes.

The left hip and right shoulder motion STRETCH the left side, since they are essentially moving very different directions.

Put it this way:

You are the map of the US...Your Head is in MISSOURI...Your right shoulder moves toward FLORIDA, your left hip toward NEW YORK.

Brian,

What happens when the right hip is restricted in the back swing creating tension or "coil" if you will in the upper right torso and chest? How does that affect this "stretching" of the left side in the downswing and what are the advantages of it? Thanks
