Lower body running off...

I have a problem right now, in particular with the driver of my lower body firing too early. Result is my right elbow gets caught behind my right hip instead of being in front. Only thing I can do from that position is to hit a block cut or release the hands early and snap hook.

Any ideas on what I could do to correct this problem.

Thanks

I was just thinking about this, is it possible that it's not my lower body firing too soon, but it's that I'm not maintaining my spine angle. I was just looking at my swing in a mirror and it appears that i can't get my right elbow caught on the right hip if I maintain the angle I'm set up on..

by not maintaining spine angle you will have no coill so the lower body can fire a little too long without the upper body being affected. If there is coil then once you move the lower body the upper body is soon to follow

I've struggled with this lately as well. I solved it by trying to focus on putting my right shoulder in my right pants pocket to start the downswing. This seemed to be the cure.....more axis tilt.

i would also look at the top of your swing how much hip rotation you have if you dont have much it is very easy for your hips to outrun everything else. look at the pics of sam snead he has more than 45 degrees hip rotation it gives you lots of time to synch back up

Stop watching Tiger.

Oh, and hold everything until your right shoulder has begun its downward travel towards the ball.
