Thanks for the links. He gets to start at stage 2 because of his previous tour status. Where did you hear that he is currently playing left handed?

The last time I saw Mac was two years ago and at that time he was playing left handed and he told me that he had to stick with it because of his physical condition. He was striking the ball very well but he said that he lost about 20 yards or so off of his driver. He was certain he would eventually regain the distance. I was very impressed with how well was swinging. In fact, Johnny Miller was there that day and told Mac he was still good enough to play tourney golf and suggested he think about the Champions Tour. Mac told Johnny he wasn't interested but Johnny kept insisting he should give it a try and finally Mac told Johnny that he would do it if Johnny would play there too. Johnny said no and that ended that subject. So, I presume Mac is still playing left handed. I wish I could be there to watch.

Hard to throwaway crosshanded!

Yes - you can downcock with right tricep thrust. The little experimentation I've done with it was disastrous. A whole different ballgame.

Mac is entered into the 2nd stage of PGA Tour Qualifying at Panama City, Florida. Righty.
Josh Broadaway and a few other crosshanders (Chris Couch does is from 70 yards to chips)
use a very strong left-hand grip. That's the secret of making it not so disastrous. It's great around the greens. I think Homer would have loved Broadaway's action.
He's in 2nd stage, too.

Stronger than 3 knuckles showing on the left hand - my standard grip?

He is not playing lh.

That's great news since that indicates his physical condition must have improved. Hope he makes it to finals so they can get him on TV.

Q school gets tougher every year. Use to me just a few former (established) Tour players in each field- now it seems to be almost everyone. Walter Middy is dead.
