I tried the lagging clubhead takeaway today and it worked like a charm!!
I've always had a popout move during takeaway, and no matter how much I focused on it I couldnt stop the butt of the club from moving away from my body at the beginning of the backswing when I turned the left arm. I videoed my swing today and the popout was gone!!
When I did the LCT, I had more of a float load at the top, which I'm not used to. It wasnt a problem with the irons but it created a bit of a control issue with the driver. I suspect I might just need to slow my swing down a bit and let my wrists set at the top before starting down.
Anyway, thanks for the great tip! I'd read about it before on this site but I never remembered to try it until today. Without a doubt it made an instant improvement on my shots.
