So.....

I have lived in Chicago for many years and would like to draw a parallel to to the big business of music to golf. For years I have followed many great blues musicians like Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Koko Taylor, Buddy Guy, Son Seals, Lonnie Brooks watching these musicians play in relative unobscurity.

You're singing my song! I'm a recovering musician who has been lucky enough to get to see Koko Taylor, Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, Pinetop Perkins, Son Seals, Charlie Musselwhite, Junior Wells and Lonnie Brooks on a number of occasions. I even got to know Junior a little bit while he was recording his final album. Not to leave Brian and the Lousiana bunch out, also Professor Longhair, Clifton Chenier and his boy CJ. I'm green with envy that you got to see the masters...Muddy and Willie....they are the Tiger and Jack of electric blues. sigh......

Brian the bluesman

Wow! Golf and blues: my two passions. I'm envious of you guys who live in Chicago. I've been to the Chicago Blues Festival twice in recent years. The last time, I sat through a thunderstorm to see Otis Rush. Why don't you come to the Pocono Blues festival on the last weekend in July for a combination blues and golf bash?

I see Brian as someone like Michael Burks: an immensely talented person who has yet to be discovered by the masses... but, it's coming. Or, maybe like Stevie Ray Vaughan just before he became wildly popular.

P.S.- You might check out a listserv called blues-l.

P.P.S.- This has gone far, far away from the original post, but what the hell. It's all fun.

Unfortunately, I don't live in Chicago. I live in Columbus, OH. I make "pilgrimages" to Chicago. My exposure to Junior was because my friend penned a song for his last disc, and was invited to the sessions. Being a good friend, he took me along!
