Martin Hall

Martin Hall's doing a great job with his show. Great insight. Plus, he's making an effort to show some personality. Hopefully viewers will prefer his to Michael Breed's. I sure do.

Notice that in a show devoted to fixing slices, the MAJOR THING he emphasized was fixing the face.

I am trying to figure out why you would come on BrianManzella.com and post this. Kind of like going on Mustangs are us and saying how great Camaros are.

Just seems odd.

I like pizza.

Marton Hall is one of the three PGA pros who endorsed Never Slice Again 2.

"This video gives those with this knowledge an unfair advantage over those who don't have it."

Hey Eye,

When the whole tgc instructor search happened, a lot of interest was garnered, and when MH was selected Brian provided kudos to him. So it doesn't seem to me so out of line to mention MH is doing a good job.

Personally, but maybe I'm wrong, I wouldn't think they are real competitors anyway. I can see objections for waving the flag for certain others pros, so in that respect I know what you may have meant.

Why don't you start you own forum and you can play policeman all day long.

Agreed. Martin Hall rocks!

I see many similarities to Brian to be honest.

I wonder if Martin Hall had been born in the Big Easy and Brian in Stoke-on-Trent, England how things would have turned out...

Both seeking golf swing truths and not afraid to blow up widely accepted golf swing 'myths' along the way, throws in a few stories, a few wry smiles and of course, super deep knowledge of the golf swing.

Definitely peas from the same pod... and that's a good thing.

Would be cool to see them teach a class together...

Martin is good, but as someone who has taken lessons from both Brian and Martin, he is no Brian. I don't think he is the master of his trackman and his wit is very very dry to a point where sometimes you are not sure if he is serious.
Having said that Martin is the best the Golf Chanel has put on thus far and a huge step in the right direction...now please put Breed on some downers I think he hit the Red Bull a little to hard....

When Fan Boyism goes wrong :)

That view from the mountaintop must be nice. And my original post had nothing to do with Fan boyism or whatever you call it. I guess my point was not explained very well. Sometimes this place is interesting.

I think it's time to stop piling on EyeOffish.
I get the knee jerk, I have in the past felt the tweak of a poster using a forum to pimp a competitor. It's not so much a "fan-boy" as a sense that the forum developer puts time and resources into developing a great forum only for someone to try to use it for their own gain.
Some times we get it wrong, but the intention was noble.

I've watched all the episodes. The last one struck me as different.
It was like Hall was just a little too hyped up, not to Breed level, but hyped.

Maybe the props and cutesy phrases are just wearing on me. Or maybe it's
just that I keep expecting to learn something new, and there is nothing.
Of course, we are not the target audience.

This is a big point that I think most of us here on this forum miss. We are pretty fortunate to be a lot more "in the know" (Thank you Brian) than the average golf instructor (never mind Joe Public), that we tend to jump on somebody as soon as they say something incorrect on TV. Those guys have to keep learning as well.

I haven't watch much of Mr. Hall yet, but like the fact that he seems to understand ball flight, and am looking forward to seeing his episodes.

Good point. I am doing an unscientific survey of PGA professionals. The survey questions is: How does one go about hitting a golf ball perfectly straight? My tally is up to five respondees. Most popular answer: Why would you want to? None...I repeat none have any clue how angle of attack influences things, D-plane etc.

I do not mention this to malign PGA professionals (who do much more than teach.) All but 1 of the 5 can beat my arse like a drum, so they are handy players. Those that I asked have decided that they know enough to get by on. I applaud the pros that keep on learning how to get this maddening task of hitting a golf ball done, especially when they have to eat humble pie about what they believed, said and taught before.

How many pros out there have a deeper knowledge of how it works than Martin Hall? I remember him being the fella that was questioning a certain other fella about how a square clubface could deflect a ball straight even with an in to out path. The old cross line putter demonstration.

I hope his producers do not suck all of the good stuff out of his presentation for more palatable mass consumption.

Yeah, this number will be disappointingly low for a while still, but at least it seems to be moving in the right direction. Eventually, I hope a correct understanding of ball flight causation will be standard reading for any teaching certification. I'm hoping to get that resolution passed here in BC.

I first saw Martin Hall on the PGA tour partners club videos. He had plenty of good information and presented it in an interesting format. I wonder if TGC is encouraging him to amp it up a little to be more like Breed.
