Does anyone know anything about Mike Bender or his head instructor Ty Krieger?

I know he worked with Mac O'Grady, but other than that I don't know much about him. Thanks.

Mike is a Top 100 teacher in Lake Mary, Florida, basically Orlando. He played on the tour for 2-3 years, had trouble with the flatstick.

He was a college All American at Stanislaus State in California and worked with Ben Doyle while there.

He is a good teacher, focusing primarily on Plane and Posture. He sells a machine under the name of MEGSA, Most Efficient Golf Swing Attainable, for about $15K.

He believes MORAD is superior to TGM because TGM is "viewer's choice."

I think that means that he believes the 446 Quadrillion ways to make a swing that conform to TGM's 24 components and variations don't result in ball striking that is acceptable to play tour level golf.

His most prominent student currently is Zach Johnson, leading money winner on the 2003 Nationwide Tour, 13th on the PGA Tour Money list this year.

Currently on Mac's S**t list.

He teaches at Timacuan Golf Club and his website is WWW.MikeBender.com

LINYAI,
Thanks for the info. I will be moving to Orlando at the end of July and have heard good things about Mike. So does he basically teach MORAD or his own version? Does he teach hitting or swinging? Does he teach a single shift or double shift plane? Thanks.

MGJ:

I am not well versed enough in his methods to comment authoritatively. I believe most top teachers today teach swinging as a result of Tiger's success. I have seen comments that suggest MORAD is a swinger's procedure. These are solely my opinions, and not based on research.

Apparently Mac rescinded all authorizations of MORAD instructors.

I believe that they teach a double shift, which is appropriate for swingers due to rotational hip action. I am a bit fuzzy on this, so don't take it as gospel.

I saw mike Bender using a machine or device to help teach plane... on the show where he was working with Z. Johnson. It was a little different than some of the others I have seen.

Do any of you know anything about this device?

Was this the MEGSA?

$16,000 - HOLY COW. I wonder if it sets up for variations of the 24 components? How much extra does the instructor have to charge for lessons in order to pay it off?

How about just spending $300 for Ben's mat?

Look at that thing - probably costs that much to produce it!

Just like with Ben's mat, go take a lesson from Bender and ask to use it. Now you get personal instruction AND get to try it out.
