As a very serious student of the golf swing, I have analysed many, many swings using my V1 Home swing analyser program. I have seen many near-perfect swings (eg. Tiger Woods, Trevor Immelman, Adam Scott, Justin Rose), but I still think that Mike Finney has the most perfect swing. It is a joy to see a good quality DTL view of his swing. Thank you Brian for sharing it with us!

Do you have a face-on view, taken at the same time, that we can view?

Jeff.

Beautiful rythym, great face control all the way through. Is his right shoulder a little higher and the swing a touch more in to out than in past years? I'd give a pretty penny for that transition.

This is one of my favorites, thanks for posting.

It could be just me, but Finney and Vaughn Taylor's swings look a lot alike. Very similar rhythm and body type, they both swing it very well.

Why again did Finney not try and play for a living? I think he should at least make a run and try to qualify and play in the PGA Club Professional Tournament.

good thing

It's a good thing I can't hit a golf ball like that or I would never leave the course. Jobs, marriage, and life outside golf just would not be possible. Which brings up the questions whether Mike would be a golfnut if he had my swing...maybe not.:)

Wow, what a beautiful motion! I was privileged enough to see Michael hit a few balls on the range earlier this year in Louisville - it was poetry in motion.

Now excatly how does he swing? Does he take the club back turning his right hip first. does he use hands pivot or pivot hands , left shouder takeaway or what ?????

Two questions:

1. What makes this swing so appealing?

2. What makes this swing so effective?

BTW, I really like this swing as well; don't want any misunderstandings. Just want to hear some feedback as to why people feel this swing is so nice, in both form and function.

What makes it so (visually) appealing, is the appearance of effortless and coordinated power transferred through the swing. It looks like a beautiful practice swing that happens to have a ball in the way. from setup to finish he appears to be smooth, unhurried, and in perfect balance.

Why it works (someone more qualified than me can give you a more complete answer), Club is on plane , clubface looks to be perfect, plenty of power through the ball.

I cannot appreciate enough, Brian, the dynamism and power in the pivots of you and your students. In particular, you, Mike, and Adam have this beautiful shift left to start the downswing. Incredible stuff! Thanks for showing off all this great footage. More proof from the best teacher in golf.

BM,

It seems like Mike has a considerable amount of vertical drop of the hands at the start down. Is this on purpose? Does he know he does it? What causes it? It almost seems like his hands make a mini loop???

Thanks,
John

This is Mike's shift from the TSP to the eblow plane, it's just a normal double shift similar to many great players.
