Missing the Forest for the Trees

Ok many of you have read my struggles with hooking the ball. For several years how I have dropped under plane and hit with a horizontal hinge(bad stuff) resulting in a hook. My divots have always been straight or slightly out and angled at the end(as if the face had shut). I never could seem to get on plane. What may seem obvious to others I had completely overlooked. My clubs were too long and I could not stay on plane without driving the club into the ground prior to impact. As a result I would drop under plane, throw the club out a little bit, which would give me the space necessary to get the club through. I now am choking down about a half-inch and am staying on plane(hitting) with a high slight fade, best ball-flight that I've ever had.

The lesson here, Make sure your clubs are fitted right for you, if not you will make all kinds of compensations to make good contact.

Brian why not just use mp3 - its a universally compatible codec - if your worried about filesize here are a few suggestions...

1- It amazes me that people use stereo with files for the internet - your basically doubling your filesize of your audio file - make it Mono.... its not music - the same thing is coming out both speakers anyways...

2 Since it is just voice - I would recommend about 64kbs (and perhaps you can go lower still...) - this will still sound pretty reasonable....

3 You could maybe improve further by having a variable bit rate... instead of static....Which would assign higher bitrates or better quality audio on the parts that need it instead of the parts that don't.

Plays without problems in real Player 10.5 and QuickTime Player 6.5.2. Sound quality is OK - can recognize it's Brian Manzella talking.

Brian, thanks for the response. I brought this issue up hoping it may help others. I had been working on hinge action, hip turn, swinging, hitting, etc. and the bottom line was no matter what I did, I was going to have problems until I got my clubs fitted correctly. I think this is a basic a lot of people, including myself, overlook.

I read on the Mr Blake's site that contemporary clubs are 2 degrees more upright and longer than should be, with the exception of Mizunos. Consequently, one hits it toward the heel and the face faces left during impact. Never had a fitting. Probably time I should, unless it is too expensive.

Find a good local fitter, shouldn't cost you a lot at all.

Worked for me in Quicktime Brian.

BTW, I had to "Save to Disk", then Windows didn't automatically recognize it. So I had to open it then select Quicktime from the list of programs to use. Not sure if it works in anything else like Winamp or w/e but I tried QT and it worked.
