General question.

If you move that far off the ball and then towards impact your head backs up is it possible to get a path that is anywhere near 0, its got to be block/hookey right?

Jen,
In the still photos it looks like he regripped the club at the top more closed.

IMO it's generally a clubface issue, very much related to the grip. You can't really hit it straight when the clubface is that closed. However as Kevin and Jim said, he needs the clubface a bit shut because of his hand and clubhead paths.

Keep takin his money jen, there ain't no quick fix for him.

He might be better off though with a stiffer shaft.

Looked like a regripper to me also Matt. Difficult to say for sure because the video quality is not that good.

Your friend has his driver teed up in the middle of his stance or even back middle. He's probably hitting down on it sharply inside out.

He's got to move a ton to get behind the ball right now. I'd move the ball forward and see how that changes everything.

I think the camera angle is to blame for that.

As long as you move back towards the ball in the downswing you should be ok but in most cases people either under/over do the move back and then have issues with ballflight because of i.

At last. The voice of reason.

That's the problem with video.

He's standing pretty square on before the video starts.

The camera is pointed straight at his sternum, belly button and bal..............istics. His shoulders, knees and feet are square to (equidistant from) the camera.

IMHO - just saying.

The camera angle is off. That ball is just inside his left instep maybe 2in. at most. Jen even confirmed it is off, it's Jen's buddy he should know , maybe Jen took the video? Look at the blue tee marker in the foreground it looks like it's in the middle also, but it's in front of the ball, it's even in front of his left foot.

I've been aware of the position of the tee markers from the get go - can't miss 'em.

Question is; why does a bloke taking a video of a mate and asking for advice on what we see screw up his angles.

Answer is; he doesn't. He gets as square on to his subject as he can, irrespective of where the tee markers are.

Still, I'm done with it. And, the guy will continue to do what he does no matter what anyone in here says - IMHO.

Doesn't change the fact that the camera angle is off and it's making you think the ball is too far back when in fact it is not, but whatever. Not everyone is camera position savy when it comes to proper setup for analysis of the swing.
