brian repeatedly calls David Toms the 'poster boy' or model for NHA. whether this is because of his personal affiliation with David or the lesson he gave David happened to be what NHA turned out to be, i dont know. i dont think it matters much.

however, my opinion is that Fred Couples is a better model for NHA. left lean at top, soft left wrist with the toe hanging down more, turning shoulder plane backswing, and even Brian has said how Freddy uses 'the drop' as his downswing with a hard pivot leading the arms and hands and hard arm swing to the left on the through swing

Couples swing of a few years ago is VERY NHA, so much so in fact, that when I played my best, I just thought "Couples."

The "Never Hook Again" swing was invented around a solution that I found for my overly inside-out swing at the time. After it was more or less perfected—for me—I noticed that it looked just like some old footage of DT from about 4 years before I had ever taught him. In 1997, I had the opportunity to teach it back to him, and for the most part, except for a little Colin Montgomerie thrown for effect, I still teach him to swing like that pattern.

Having spoken to Brian on that topic, I knew the Toms story but, I too, have always thought Couples was, and is the perfect poster boy for NHA. My last lesson with Bman had alot of that in it.

I thought Couples was more soft fade? If not who is the soft fade poster child? I know it is Nicklause & Montgomerie type pivot, but with more arms across the chest.

Come to think of it....I may be the perfect model :)

I can't wait until soft fade is released! NHA is the only one of Brian's patterns that I absolutely can't make work. I've borrowed the pivot from NHA, but I can't make it work in it's entirety.
