New MANZELLA Video Answer "Movie"

It was all educational but particularly for me, the short segment about keeping the right elbow on plane and illustrating with the shaft. I think there is a real tendency for getting the elbow below plane considering TGM emphasis on having the forearm on plane at address, the startup swivel and free turn back.

Michael, Welcome to the professioanal world. I too am a professional. Props to Brian. I am only here to help. Free you say, been giving out all my life for free. Works for me and it's going to work for Brian. You keep at it too. Like I said , we all have to look up. way up. Thankfull you bet, Good luck with those kids.

Lou

Look, I don't want to get into an argument with you or rosser....just know this, please don't expect or demand anything from a person who has already proven that he gives away A LOT of good information for free....

in other words, don't BLOW IT for everyone else who waits patiently for Brian to get around to it....is that clear enough?....i should think so

Nice Brian.

I agree totally on under plane as the correct answer.
Lou

IMO, it's just one of the correct answers. It is a broad based generalization that may be correct for for all but not for some, or not for all but for some. More or less of cookie cutter answer. Brian mentioned maybe other possibilities, like the flip. I would have to review the video again...

Again, IMO...

"Don't move the hands with the hands."

I absolutely agree with this. What are some good "focus points" for what SHOULD move the hands? Right shoulder? Right forearm? Pivot as a whole?

Tourdeep, Yes, other reasons but the one that follows most all of the better players is the under plane. I'm not talking about flippers. I mentioned the good players that have a flat left wrist and bent right wrist at impact, have fair amount of axis tilt etc. I was positioning toward the more advanced players that just thin at times. Maybe better to say a slightly rushed tempo.

and when does the canton video come out???......maybe you should go bark up that tree on another free site
Whoa...how does the canton vid suddenly come into this? I've actually forgotton about the canton vid thing until you reminded me...I wonder when it's going to be released.

Thanks for the freebie Brian.

You said you used to use the LCT and played good golf with it. So why did you stop using it?

The many patterns of Brian Michael Manzella

Why did I stop using it?

Becuase I wasn't satisfied not winning every tournament I played in.

Because I didn't hit every shot perfect.

Becuase I have more athletic ability in my pinky than Tom Kite does in his whole body and he STILL can beat me.

Becuase I "Heard of a NEW METHOD" some teacher was teaching and I wanted to try it.

Leo (and others), I have spent most of my life RESEARCHING the golf swing.

I will never stop.

But, as soon as my new Taylor Made's get to me, I am WORKING HARD are my game.

And I will post all the upgrades and progress right here.

I have another new goal: Be able to beat every FULL-TIME teacher in the world.

:)

Wow cool post....(good question Tong)...

Ya Tom Kite's a dork....(lol)...

...

Sounds like me tho Brian.....(I'm getting worried)....

That's a GREAT thing for every student of yours tho eh.....I admire that.....

I mean.....what if you WERE satisfied? What if you settled on something years ago and determined you now know everything?

Would you be as good?

...

You think you can beat every full time teacher in the world? (you'd take the "top 10" anyway I think no? lol you'd dust Lead and Haney...)

O....and what kind of irons u get?

Blended Backswing

Brian,

You mentioned in the video that the backswing has two basic components - the turning of the body and the lifting of the arms. If one desires to have a "blended" backswing, where does the "lifting of the arms" start? When the shaft is parallel to the ground? Sooner? Later?

Seems when I try to get my arms higher (..more lifting), I end up moving the clubhead outside the target line on my takeaway...Is this simply "lifting too soon" ?

Thanks

If you want to take it back with your hands.....up the plane or close to it......the club gets lifted right away basically......(cause it won't stay ON the ground while you're turning back)

Use the target line and where the shaft points at it as a reference for how your plane is. (you have options BTW)

And if you want to use a STT.....like Brian demonstrates.....to emphasize the pivot and a turn around the spine (although it's obviously an option beyond doing solely this)......it will go underplane some at the start (you'll have that "Sam Snead, Ben Hogan look" halfway back as Brian talked about) and then lift to the top.

Lefty,

Too much thinking and too little doing going on here IMHO.

If you can make a takeaway as far as parallel to the ground on your backswing, that is satisfactory to you and on plane, it must surely then be quite simple to just carry on up to the finish as a continuation of the motion that got you to that point. Just bend your trail side elbow, maintain your extensor action and let it happen.

Burner,

You'd think it would be quite simple, but the sad fact is that I can't get my hands up to the turned shoulder plane to save my life. Sure, in a practice motion I can, but not in a full swing with a ball in front of me. It's like a puzzle to me...

BTW, I hit balls or play 6-7 days a week, so lots of "doing" going on. Maybe not the right "doing", but plenty of it :)

Nice goal Brian...because there's less debate about who's the best full-time teacher-golfer (it's whoever shoots the lowest score), but there is about the best teacher in the world.

Right now, you don't use the Lagging Clubhead Takeaway. So does that mean it's better for YOU not to use LCT? Because if it wasn't then you would've switched back to using LCT. Are there any MECHANICAL reasons why you abandoned it? Maybe because of lack of control? Maybe you feel you don't need it anymore once you learnt how to wallop the ball with the pivot?

Thanks.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6-7 days a week, check
too flat back, check
can do it correct in a practice motion, check
puzzled, check

If you figure something out man make sure to pm me, I'll do the same for you. Any feedback from the experts is much appreciated. I've tried a lot of things, none seem to get to the root cause. I should post a backswing soon.

I would love to see the foursome of Manzella, Blake, Croker & Evershed go at it...maybe a 36-hole event. Why don't you call them to the Challenge?

At least Croker will do a "teach off."

Tell you what, if they will do a "teach off/play off/debate off" best of three, count me in.

Give me a couple of months and I'll win all three.
