New Revelations about Release and Underplaners?

Straining and overturning the shoulders too flat in the backswing as a prelude to inside-out swing is also an underplane thought I think.

I just pick my hands up for my backswing now, instead of trying to get into some crazy 'wind up' position, big shoulder turn etc.

That may work for you, but alot of underplaners have to turn their shoulders flat on the BS because on the DS they create too much axis tilt. And when you turn under instead of around it really exaggerates the pivot.

My eyes have been opened! I have been working on this move away from the target a little bit and wandered over to the range today to see if I could do it.

I 'did it right' about 30-60 balls and was very impressed. Solid strikes, very straight, minimal effort, perfect balance. This IS my cure for early unwind. It could not have been clearer. It will take me a lot of work because I am so used to unwinding aggressively and 'hitting the ball with my left shouler'.

I will also say this is a lot easier to repeat with the longer clubs. I am still trying to figure out how to 'tap the wall behind me' with a wedge that I only swing about 60% back.

Okay that definitley makes sense.

DC, to cure the over active pivot/extreme axis tilt, what are some of your remedies? I have been holding my left hip back from moving laterally on the DS and it seems to be working right now but feels like it is only a bandaid fix.[/

it might be better to check WHY you need that much axis tilt? Some reasons might be too stiff shafts, too little loft, too much lag, shut face...try hitting some drivers with a HL driver, very soft shaft. See drills rarely help if the ball flight that caused the flawed motion doesn't change. DC

Well I hit the ball extremely high and pretty far. I use an 8.5 driver and hit it higher than every scratch golfer I play with. I hit driver over 300 and 5iron 205 so u think it could be shaft flex? I agree on the drills not helping.

If I could ever lose the axis tilt I think I would be alot more consistent.

Well it doesn't seem like your hanging back from too low ball fight that's for sure. That is the most common reason I see for adding that much axis tilt. What is path and angle?
