Thanks for the bump, Brian. I'm proud to be part of your panel/think-tank.
For any of the West Coast Manzella-ites who want to give a lesson a shot, I'm at Marbella CC in San Juan Capistrano, an hour south of L.A.
and an hour north of San Diego. Mention the forum and you'll get me for $80 an hour instead of $125. My specialties include trajectory control and power creation. Oh, and I strive to make the session fun and creative to help change the way you look at the game.
And I owe much of what I know and how I teach it to Brian and everyone on this forum, especially my good friend, Jon Hardesty, whose curiosity is peerless.
So, thanks and come see me.
So nice to be able to say Dear Billy,
A real name and a real fine professional golf instructor and golf science listener.
My most sincere CONGRATULATIONS for both the SCPGA award, and for joining and establishing a much needed Manzella Academy presence on the west coast. I stand ready to help you in any way , and at any time.
But I already have a favor Billy, please don't tell anyone the story about Brian, when we all were together at your club, Mabella CC. There I was, showing him, and explaining the background of BBKIB so he could confirm the distance and accuracy advantages on Trackman by accurately measuring the detailed characteristics of employing increased stability.
Everything was fine with the 7 iron, but when he took out the driver, I needed you to be my interpreter to get the point across that the driver almost always accentuates the lower body instabilities, requiring significantly more set-up adjustment than the 7 iron. That was a GREAT lesson for me to understand the need for you the teacher to be the teacher, and not me, the scientist, especially for the 'language' and as I recall, the 'feel' discussions you had with him based on your experiences a few months earlier, and the with a few of your students..
But more importantly, the time at the club, and then the great dinner at the Bar-B-Que place gave me the opportunity to get to know Brian in person, which has led to reasonably frequent, and always important telephone exchanges and I believe a building of mutual respect, resulting in my active participation on and appreciation for this site.
Thanks for bringing us together and also doing the same for me with Jon Hardesty a few months earlier.
Looking forward to seeing you in the near future.
Sincerely,
art
Belated thanks Billy, especially for hosting
