No backswing....Will it work? Is it too unconventional?

My experience

I spent the whole season in 2003 playing with a version of the no backswing method. I started from a full cocked position and the left arm aimed at about 7 o'clock if you were looking face on. I actually had a pretty good season, hitting the ball VERY straight, though I lost a little distance. I stopped using this method at the beginning of 2004 because I couldn't maintain any rhythm with it.

Of course, that was long before attending school with Masters Manzella and Jacobs and learning how to REALLY do it right!

I think the one thing being overlooked in the "results" and conclusions are that when a good golfer is "stopped" at the top during transition, his lower body is already starting to perform the forward swing motions.
These motions seem essential to maximise C/H speed, which is probably why the better players lost distance when they tried this method...
If amateur gofers need to work on anything, it is a correct transition sequence, rather than trying to eliminate it altogether.....

Just my two-penneth....:) :)
