NSA Troubleshooting- I'm a tad stumped.

I think it might in part be number 3. I get very fixated with coming inside and Brian's 'keep right shoulder' down the plane line is something I do a lot for driving.

I am thinking of pulling my ball back in my stance though. Well tomorrow is a new day. I have another 18 holes in front of me. I'll probably wack a bucket first and see if I can figure anything out.

Thanks for chiming in. I think you've covered a lot of the basic issues I could be experiencing.

Colin.

90%, or more, of your problems will be caused by your hands.

Fix the flipping, then move on to the more complex stuff.

Does he cover fixing flipping in the video? I can't recall. I never used to be a flipper, but then again, I never even thought much at all about my hands until NSA.

Well I just watched this, thanks to a Tank post:

Interesting and when he first starts talking about flipping (wrist breakdown) of the left wrist, I know that HAS to be the problem. I guess I am twist too much. I never really thought of myself as a flipper. I think my twist to the ball is where I have developed a flip action.

Ok Tank... think I got the message. :)

In my own defense, I've just developed this alleged flip. I believe it has come from trying to 'twist' towards the target as hard as possible. I think I may just be over twisting. But to be safe, yes, I bought the video.....

(**psssssst**..............Brian may disagree..............ack!........................but I put my weight forward on a lot of shots to ensure a more forward low point, more shaft lean, and a steeper angle of attackkkkkkk!!.........)

(especially short/low shots!!...egad!)

Well back to my trouble shooting. I'm definitely not a 'flipper'. If anything I can hold on a bit too long trying to retain a 'hands first' feeling. (But yes, I did buy 'Confessions of a flipper' just in case).

I went back to my age old problem of coming over the top. In NSA I keep watching it for more clues. When I get less over the top, I can really correct the problem.

Remember earlier I may have said that some part of my brain thinks more power means turn more? Well I think what happened was with NSA I was hitting draws so I thought "great, now to really pound that ball!" And it was th beginning of my downfall.

So I don't know if I can fix it, but I'm about 92.7% sure that's what's going on. I know I start my right shoulder down on the ball, but I can magically find a way to defy physics and (over) turn my shoulders at the 3/4 part of the swing and ruin a perfectly good hit.

I found a very important clue in Brian's NSA at about the 58 minute mark. First, I'm going to take less back swing, lessening the chance of my left hand cocking and opening too much. Second, (and possibly most importantly) as Brian says, I'm going to start with my left shoulder going UP , and then STOP it right there, and let my right arm pass my chest.

Hopefully I will lose less tilt, and be able to maintain better follow through.

It's taken me hours to figure this out and I haven't been able to see my instructor. So for right now this is just me experimenting.

Thanks for giving me a lot of ideas, it's all helped me eliminate a few suspect moves, but I think it is just me using my 'unwind' to hit the ball too much. We'll see... again thanks to forum members for their patience.

Sorry man. I was really hoping that would clear some things up for you (like it did for me). Hope you get it worked out.

Oh yeah, and post a swing video if you can.
