Bubba Waston because he'll be inspired by his father's death in October and his near miss at the PGA. He's as comfortable with himself and his game as anyone out there, which is huge. It also helps that he can hit just about any shot:

Rory isn't good enough on the greens. Dustin isn't good enough with his 'tweener game.

This is a good point. But with Bubba, focus and staying out of his own way are the big caveats; it's why I went with DJ over him (even though Bubba's my favorite player on tour today). DJ seems a little more steady. But along with that length, he has major championship talent. I wouldn't be surprised if he bagged more than one. But I also wouldn't be completely bowled over if he didn't.

Lee Westwood. He'll get his major this year, win a ton of cash, and still gets to go down the pub with his mates. Sounds like my kind of career!

Martin Kaymer, he seems to have both the discipline and focus needed to be very consistant over the next few years or longer. I like DJ but have reservations about his ability to maintain his concentration despite his wins.

It was JIM who said it first Lifter!

JIM JIM JIM. ;)

... and it's only been 5 months! 5 5 5 ;)

5 year predictions have a bit of a shelf life. If this question was posed today, it would be riddled with "Rory" votes. But a couple would guess the Open winner next month (if it's not Rory), and feel pretty good about their call.

It's the best 5 year career. That includes more than just on course finishes, IMO. Rory is a strong pick because he's a hellova player, plus he's extremely marketable, and genuinely seems like a nice kid. That's a strong combo. It will be tough if he doesn't spend more (not all) time in the States, so it'll be interesting to see how he decides to go in that regard.

Today McIlroy said for this year, he's just playing twice more in the US: Bridgestone and the PGA.

In the next few years he's hoping to play maybe two more events per year. Not planning to join the US tour, or at least not coming over "full time." He was a member last year (did the whole Fed Ex playoffs thing) and overall it was too much for him - played 31 tournaments; doesn't want to get play so much he's burned out by the time he's 30.

You are correct! And I actually predicted that Charl and Rory would win the next two majors (but somehow that post got deleted).

I like him as an announcer, but I think he's a little past his prime as a player. :D
