Plane line and right forearm?

Assuming all basic fundamentals of grip, address, stance, ball position, alignment, etc. (All) are acceptable:

Please explain the 3 different plane lines the forearm seems to trace as the hands are, at address, moved too far forward toward the target, too far back and the ideal.

I find the plane too upright (hands too far back), too flat (hands too far forward). The ideal?

I have always prefered MID BODY HANDS.

It just WORKS better for me and my students.

Hands too far forward usually causes a backwing plane(the right forearm) to be too ????

Hands too far rearward........................????

Hitters can, according to 10-9-B, start from Impact Fix with the hands. Here the hands visually cover the left toes. From here one can move the right forearm and club straight UP the plane. Ideally, back, up and in the TURNED SHOULDER PLANE.

SWINGERS can start from an Impact Fix position with the hands, but usually start from a Classic Address position of the hands(mid-body).
This position helps to get the feel of the ROPE handle that a Swinger uses.

The hands can be trained or EDUCATED to take the club up the PLANE from either starting poistion, with Hitting or Swinging. A HANDS controlled PIVOT is an excellent procedure for keeping the club on PLANE on the backswing. A PIVOT controlled HANDS procedure can work also, but can easily take the club TOO inside on the backswing.

I...your host...Brian Manzella, is a hitter.

and I employ mid-body hands.

Really? From what I read in the past you were a Swinger and didn't even care much for Hitting. Yoda got to you, didn't he? :D

Brian...I should not have said that Hitters should start from Impact hands, but can start there. The TGM book does indeed list Standard Address in the 12-1-0 Pattern. The book, however, does say that the 10-9-B Impact Address... "encourages stiffer and stronger structure and motion and is especially useful for "Hitting"."

Do you feel that Mid- body hands address is better for Hitting, or is this just your personal preference?

Brian,

I suspect you thought you were a 4-barrel swinger, who finally understood there is no such thing, and realized that you were actually a 4-barrel hitter, which Yoda believes that all "4-barrel swingers" really are.
