please review my swing

I am a 41 yr. old golfer who is working on developing lag in my swing. I started fooling around with TGM a year ago and am just now learning the importance of the 3 imperatives. These swings are sort of half shots, because right now any harder and what little lag I have is gone. My handicap is 9 today and was 15 a year ago. The priciple difference has been halfheatedly applying the 3 imperatives to my swing.

Please go to www.golftec.com. My username is 008-02-7654 and my password is bobw. Pay no attention to comments by the instructor. I go for the technology, not the lesson. this kid has never heard of Homer. I would appreciate any critical comments and suggestions for improvement.

Even with half swings, you should be able to get an angle of no more than 90 degs between your left arm and shaft. By doing that, and learning to "downcock", thereby decreasing it further, you could substantially increase lag.

diggerdog: You pivot looks a a bit sloppy. There is a lot of lateral head movement on the backstroke which leads to a big lateral head shift towards the target on the downstroke. It is hard to say because of your big lateral head shift on the backswing but it seems that your head is forward of it's address position at impact and you keep moving it towards the target in your through stroke . I advise you think about getting a more rounded hip movement on the backstroke with a bump left of the hips not goinig quite so far left but keeping the head in the same relative position until 3/4 swivel. This way you will have more axis tilt which will lead to you having a much lower trail shoulder at impact as well as more trail arm bend. So you may have to work on a slightly different feel on your impact fix. It might be a good idea to kick your right knee a little towards the target at address and keep it there on the backstroke to stop you sliding right so much. . I can see why you are having problems getting a pitch elbow with your present pivot your head shift in the downstroke is preventing you having enough 2nd axis tilt which is keeping the trail shoulder high. Think about Brian' frizbee throw and his skipping stones underhand across a pond to get the axis tilt feel and staying behind the ball. Frizbee throw gets your lead shoulder higher at impact and the stone skipping gats the trail elbow leading and the trail shoulder lower. . Compare your swing at impact to the impact position on Brian's logo and you will see what I mean. Hope this helps.

I got this from the post on FGI re "Sway" http://www.freegolfinfo.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=64393 it is by the dude or ro on that website. It made me think of your swing

,

"It is my belief that the biggest problem with the sway is due to one thinking that you must have this big coil and the only way to accomplish this feat is to look like a contortionist. Hit the delete button (what a sad boring comment).

Take your address and pretend you are gripping a club. Have your feet placed about hip to shoulder width. This little exercise will take a dance partner so call out to them and say, ummm, "help!" Have them stand so they can hold one of their hands at your right shoulder level and approx. 11/2-2 feet from your right shoulder. This does not have to be precise because we desire to just give a feel and a little demo.

But, this is the tough part now. Without any thought of anything, take your hands and touch your partners hand. Go ahead, do it again. Now stop when you do it the next time. Observe that you did not sway, you did not look like a contortionist, nice turn, good coil, solid base, and the list can go on and on.

This past weekend I was with a gentleman who sort of demonstrated the above. He stated that, Randy, most golfers do not get this simple concept. What's that I asked? He said Randy, reach out and pickup your glass of vino. I did. He goes, see, you did not twist your shoulder, lean with your hips, twist all around like the hunchback of Notre Dame, keep your elbows locked to your body and shuffle to your glass of vino. Hmmmm.........I said.
