Practice: How do you Integrate your priorites....?

This question is about an approach on how to integrate your swing change priorities with also practicing to play better. Meaning, lets say that you and your AI have identified that hinging and straight line tracing are your top two priorities. How much, or what percentage of your full swing practice should be devoted to the swing change practice drills/feel vs. practicing "playing shots" as a means of taking it to the course? Do you spend 75% of your time in "drill mode" and 25% in "play mode" for example.

Recommendations please.

A lot of my biggest changes have come after the winter, when I don't hit many balls, if any. What I end up doing is a lot of mirror work, trying to make sure my feel and real coincide. When I get back to the range, I focus on maintaining the feel I acquired doing the mirror drills, while trying to make good contact. I think the worst thing you can do when trying to make a change in your swing is to just pound balls. IMO, 75 to 80 percent (maybe more) should be devoted to drills & developing the proper feelings, when trying to make a change. Once the change starts to become habitual, that percentage should probably drop to the point that the purpose of the drilling is mainly to stay sharp.

Any other thoughts? I think this is important since, probably 90% of the people on this site are making some kind of change and it would help if the "teachers" on this site would weigh in on giving some sort of educated direction.

I've done both..but like BigWill, I find doing the drills is more effective that pounding the mats..I live in Ohio, which precludes winter practice...I am able to do some chipping which has helped...when spring breaks, I find my first few rounds are "spring training".
