pushing putts

I'm consistently pushing putts slightly to the right. Any advice other than aiming left to compensate? Thanks!

No my putter isn't fitted.

I would think that would help alot...plus messing around with different hinge actions might help. Make sure the blade is working properly for your stroke pattern. If you are a "straight back and straight through" king of guy, maybe you have too much reverse roll going through. If you "Arc it" maybe not enough "full roll" going through the ball. Basically, check how the shaft is working and move the head in the proper way to YOUR stroke.

No, no. You must have an open face or an in to out path if your hands are even with the ball at impact. Obviously, check your alignment, too.

So....could the right shoulder be the culprit??...assuming alignments are all good. Could the shoulder be moving out and off the plane?? Or keeping the left wrist with that slight cup that you have at address through impact...think Zack Johnson?? Or...one more thought...Maybe, standing too close to the ball??Think...Old school Justin Leonard, with your eyes more inside the target line. I have really been playing around alot with a putting arc and feeling like I stand a little farther from it and it seems to help me start it on line better.

No forward press and set up and strike it with your hands behind he ball

I've had the same problem the last few summers, pushing putts, and this fixed it for me. At first it felt like flipping but then I noticed I was putting right where I was aiming..

get a laser attachment for you putter to rule out putter line and get a better feel when the face comes open or path issue. I bought one for $20.

Good luck

tong,

Your problem is that you are relying on your shoulder action to square the blade.......unfortunately it is not foolproof, as you have found....

Work more on changing your attention during impact to focussing on blade position (relative to where it was at address, if you have set up and aimed correctly)...Try and match your blade to where it was at address...
This involves having a flexible right hand, which your shoulders follow, rather than the other way around (to adjust blade angle to the correct position on the forwards stroke to make it correct at impact)....

thanks for all the input guys.

If the face is square at impact but clubhead path in 2-3 degrees outside in, what effect will this have on a putt?

Minimal...it is very hard to put sidespin on a putt that makes any real difference (I've proved this on SAM Puttlab), unless you are really deliberately exaggerating it....many tour pros have an out to in swing path...

If you want a quick fix tho, set up as normal and then just press your left knee forward a tad...this will change the direction of your backswing and thro swing (by changing the address angle of your shoulders), without any other corrections neccessary....
