Real difference in hitting and swinging?

Now tell me...Randy...How in the Heck can RIGHT ARM THRUST add power to an out and out swinger by being inert??

Thanks for the follow-up Brian and Ragman.:D

One of the things that happens in a switch from a 3 barrel to a 4 barrel swinging procedure is the Extensor Action (bending and straightening of the trail arm) Pressure Point changes from #3 Pressure Point to #1.

Also, I may have used to strong of a word when using inert. By using a Pitch Basic Stroke the Right Arm in Swinging is still in a pulling attitude though Extensor Action (the striving to straighten Right Arm) is taking place. Homer actually called it passive because though the right arm is straightening it is not put into a position whereby it can push.

I still like Ben's "Wrong right arm" quote. That's not to say that Ben may or may not have changed his thinking on this.;)

Thanks

P.S. I warned you about me little brain when I posted.

I KNOW you can pull and use right arm ACTIVELY in the golfswing.

I also know there are AI's who are purely Hit or Swing in their methodology. With believe it or not I understand why they are.

Another point to consider:
If you PIVOT (Rotate) around fast enough, you NEED right arm thrust BEYOND STANDARD BELOW PLANE RIGHT ARM EXSTENSOR ACTION to keep the power package from being too far behind the pivot or EXTENSIVE #4 angle.

This will be another one of those points that I guess, as I told Brady/Redgoat with talk about weight placement on heels or balls of feet, we will agree to disagree. But hey, I listened. :);)

The following is a direct quote from Homer in one of his classes/seminars. Quote, "Most players are a combination of both and the more they are mixed (hitting and swinging) the poorer the player and the less consistent they will be." Me thinks we are closer to saying the same thing than we may think.

I think HOMER's quote ....."Right Arm thrust can add considerable yardage for an out and out Swinger"....says it all.

That is ALL I have ever said.

I realize that doing this make it tougher (for some) to be consistant.

I also know that a GOOD 'pure' swinger would beat an AVERAGE RIGHT ARM THRUST+SWINGER most times (or a 3 barrel hitter).

I DID SAY that for HIGH PROFORMANCE swings It CAN make the difference in Top-flight competition (Homer's words)

I am a SHOOT FOR THE MOON teacher.

I try for MAXIMUM.

I settle for ALL SORTS of variations that would BLOW your mind.

Most of my students wind up 2 or 3 barrel swingers or hitters.

But most of them are still working on lag ;)

Does playing with too stiff shafts have an influence on gravitating your stroke pattern towards a hit stroke and playing with too soft a shaft towards a swinging stroke? A floppy shaft would be more given to rope swinging than axe handle hitting so does the shaft you are using/learned golf with have subliminal effect on the evolution of a persons swing? Thanks.
