Release thread: brief summary

I never understood the tumble...so I ignored most of that thread whilst hoping that my tumble was not in need of change.

If you understand all of the release thread, then you understand tumble.

Tumble is controlling hand path and shaft angle in the effort to "time" the release, so that the club face and club head are swinging out to the ball for "line up". As opposed to backing up the shaft by dragging the handle, working open and under.

I do not believe I have a problems with my clubhead/club shaft falling backwards as i commence my downswing...if this is correct, then I don't have a tumble problem...Have I got it right?

Essentially, as long as there is no late "working under" of the shaft/club head to get to the ball.

I also might add, that it is ok to initially back the shaft up then tumble out to the ball. Like, in the case of a steep top of the backswing position.

I agree. Most backing up is either steep transition, as in crossing the line at the top, or too much weight on left side at top. When I see very cupped left wrist, across the line or over the top, I usually see backing up if the player has any ability at all.
