Depends on you and what you are trying to do - it does not get straight, though, until you are well into your follow through.

The earlier your selected Release Point, the sooner your Right Arm straightens. For example, with a Full Sweep Release, your Right Arm will straighten almost immediately at Start Down. With a Snap Release, your Right Arm bend may even increase slightly on Start Down, and it will not begin to straighten until your Hands are just behind the ball.

As your Right Elbow Cocks (or bends), your Left Wrist also Cocks.
As your Right Elbow Uncocks, your Left Wrist Uncocks too.
That's how you can have a perfectly Level Right Wrist whilst Cocking your Left Wrist. This maintains the integrity of the Flying Wedges.

For Hitters, it is the Right Triceps that Uncocks the Right Elbow and hence the Left Wrist.
For Swingers, Centrifugal Force executes both Uncocking motions.

Thanks Jerry. Re-read my post again. The answer is that it depends on your Release Point (Full Sweep, Random or Snap).

If you're using an Automatic Release Type (usually for a late Random or Snap Release), then you do not need to even think about straightening your right arm. As you drive your Hands to the Aiming about -- muscularly if Hitting, and centrifugally if Swinging -- your Right Arm will automatically straighten to its Impact alignment.

Gravity and momentum will begin to straighten the right arm immediately on all swings, but the rate of the straightening action will vary depending on whether or not the player assists the arm unfolding action or just allows the centrifugal force to do the job. ;)
