That you over commit the right shoulder "out" too soon.
You lose tilt.
Ok but why do I commit the shoulder out to soon? Could it be that I am not getting the proper shoulder turn or not starting the down swing with my lower body?
ive had the same issue thru the years and for me quieting the right sh. allows me to widen the gap between the grip and right sh. at start down..or in golf machine speak...release the accumulators...
But I thought in the golfing machine you are suppose to drive the right shoulder toward the ball.
Is this a improper sequence problem that I have?
The golfing machine is wrong in this case. The right shoulder moves with a parallel relationship to the changing plane angle.
How about these apples:
The Right Shoulder goes down plane from the top NOT because of axis tilt!!

Jerry, just curious, what are your misses when you don't hold your shoulder back?
Is this "holding the shoulder back" similar to keeping the back facing the target for a split second on the downswing? If so,it's just one of many anti OTT moves that can be succesful with some players.

Yes you are right on this. If I hold the shoulder back and let the arms drop I get a good hit so I must be going over the top. The problem I have is when do I finally let the right shoulder go towards the target line? I can't think fast enough to first let my arms drop and then go with the shoulder. I need a key that helps me drop my arms and then go with shoulder.
I am interested to hear the explanation.
