right wrist -- cocking and uncocking

how does one ensure a backswing with no accidental right wrist cock. I'm thining the ball and just plain whiffing the ground on practice strokes. I think I've traced it back to a cocked right wrist.

you can sweep load, which for me starts with the BENDING of the right wrist backwards. once you get that down you can then resume your standard "random" or "float" loading without the fear of the RW cocking.............at least this is what helped me YMMV

Grip could be too strong causing cocking of right wrist. The "V" of right hand, if facing the chin would tend to cock the right wrist LESS than if the "V" were right of right shoulder, all other things remaining equal.

hmmm. how are you going to cock your left wrist without cocking your right wrist?

By a bending of the right elbow and bending back of the right wrist is the "answer" but I believe that "some" cocking will occur no matter how hard anyone tries not to.

I have amassed so much knowledge over the last few years here and other places I have no place to comment if you should or should not cock it or if this is why it's causing your problem

But i'd trust 100% what Bmanz or one of his instructors advise

This has been covered before. Your right wrist absolutely does some cocking and bending so dont worry about it unless it only cocks.

I'm not worried if it cocks during my backswing or downswing, I'm worried if it remains cocked coming into impact. Looking for a way to prevent that.

Bonesy,

You can prevent the right wrist cocking by allowing the right forearm to rotate once the right hand is cupped back (which by definition cocks the left wrist), instead of cocking the left wrist with the right HAND, which will also cock the right wrist..

Therefore, you will not have to worry about it on the way down and impact....
