I would like to have tour pro hit a pull and then a slice and then a push and then a hook. Put those swings up for Miller or Faldo to analyze , WITHOUT knowing the result, and ask them to tell which swing caused which result.

They have to say something I guess, otherwise they would sound like Peter Allis, commenting on some dude eating ice cream in the crowd. Not sure which one I'd rather hear...maybe a mute? LOL

You don't like Allis, seriously? He's the best by a mile. Renton wishes he was Allis.

When there is nothing left to talk about on a sunday afternoon, waiting for the leaders to make their way up the 18th, he is the only one to listen to. The old artificer.

Yeah, I always thought Alliss was the gold standard. I would love to have Alliss and Johnny Miller in the same commentary box for a good period of time. Great contrasting styles. Chalk and cheese, but I have a feeling they'd be hand-to-glove,

It has mellowed some as time has gone on, but yeah he is not one of my favorites. Maybe it has mellowed because I would be hard pressed to say which broadcaster I can listen to. They just all have different things that make them hard to listen to. Maybe it's a European thing but I can't see how someone could love to hear him picking people out of the stands and commenting on their eating habits. Silly but just how I see it. Rentons hard to listen to as well. One positive is that the coverage is early in the am here so his "low key" (boring!) coverage is good to start the day with.

In regards to Allis, I would find it hard to have a style like his try to cover a football game (American or English style!). The only one similar would be like a John Madden...and well that would not be all that flattering in my opinion! A lot of fluff and not much substance.

Again different strokes, just giving my opinion.
